    WKU-42
    Marshall-21

JQwon had his official coming out party. For the past two years, WKU had no decent backup QB. Now with juco transfer JJ Lumpkin on the sidelines, we can afford to let JQwon off the leash. We've been practicing with Gator Heavy all week and he used it, along with the Wishbone, to destroy the Marshall run D to the tune of 142 yards and 2 TDs on just 6 carries...in the FIRST HALF. Co$hik Williams added 157 yards and 2 TDs of his own before both players were benched at halftime.

Who wants some? Who wants a little?

Didn't really say much as the site was down after our game and all day yesterday but the ULM-WMU game was a hell of a game.

Aycock has career day as Ragin' Cajuns can't stop rushing attack

Dontae Aycock had 404 rushing yards on 30 carries, 28 receiving yards, 5 rushing TDs, and a kickoff return for a TD in Arkansas State's 63-42 win over Louisiana-Lafayette. The Ragin' Cajuns had quite the offensive day as well, but that's to be expected when you are down 21 throughout the game and trying to throw your way back in it. ULL QB B. Gautier went 21/36 for 498 yards, 4TDs and an INT. S. Parham and J. Lawson each had over 100 yards receiving for the Cajuns.

The game started with the Red Wolves getting the kick and slowly making their way on a long 6 minute drive that ended with a 3 yard TD run by Aycock. After stopping ULL, Arkansas State got another TD run by Aycock early in the second. After a 24 yard TD pass got the Ragin' Cajuns on the board, Red Wolves QB Andre Smith made a terrible pass on 3rd down that was intercepted and returned 49 yards for a TD by J. Banks. However, Arkansas State was able to recover and get a 21 yard rushing score by Aycock with :17 left in the half to put them up 21-14 at the break.

What an explosive 3rd quarter for both teams, as they combined for 49 points in the period. But the real game changer happened early in the third. On the Cajuns first possession of the half, they managed to get within the Red Wolves 5 yard line before being stopped on 3rd and goal at the 1. Down by 7, they decided to go for it. As ULL HB K. White hit the line, it appeared he would be dragged into the endzone and score. However, at the last moment, the ball popped out and was scooped up by LB Nick Nelms, who shed one tackle and was gone, 99 yards for a touchdown. Looking to put that behind them, the Ragin' Cajuns managed to score less than :30 later thanks to great passing. Once again, though, they could not keep the momentum, as Aycock returned the ensuing kickoff 101 yards for a touchdown to put Arkansas State up 35-21. After another long drive by Louisiana-Lafayette, the Red Wolves were able to get the turnover they needed with an interception at their own 5, as the Cajuns looked to close the gap, only to be devastated. Arkansas State drove downfield behind Aycock and Andre Smith hit all purpose athlete Aerion Williams for an 11 yard TD pass. After stopping ULL again, Aycock scored on a 51 yard run. He would get a 71 yard score later in the period as well.

ULL never gave up, and scored 14 points in the 4th, but never got close enough to motivate the defense to make a stop, something they didn't do all game. Arkansas State is now on a 3 game winning streak, and 3-3 overall. Coming up next they have to host UAB, which should be a good game.

31 4th Quarter Points Lead Utah State To Comeback Win; 45-35
    [IMG]

Freshman Quarterback Brewster leads amazing comeback

Utah State kept West division title hopes alive in an amazing comeback win over UAB. UAB put up 14 points in the first two quarters, and the Aggie offense was not executing. They could not score until 1 minute left in the 2nd, but the UAB offense scored in a one minute drive to end the half up 21-7. Utah State took the first drive of the 2nd half down the field and scored quickly to give new life to the Aggies, down 21-14. UAB responded though on a drive capped off by an 8 yard run by Winbush.

Early in the 4th quarter, Utah State had a chance to cut the lead to 7, but had to settle for a field goal. UAB scored 2 minutes later to take a 35-17 lead with just 6 minutes to go and it looked all but over for Utah State. But Freshman QB Dennis Brewster would take charge of an offense that had failed to execute all day; connecting on a 67 yard TD pass to fellow freshman WR White. The Aggies still trailed 35-24, however. The Aggie defense held UAB to a 3 and out on the following drive, and Brewster once again led the offense and scored a touchdown on a 38 yard pass to Anthony Bonds. Still down by 4 with under 3 minutes to go, the Aggies decided to kick off and go for the stop. Their prayers were answered when UAB runningback Winbush fumbled the ball and USU cornerback Nate Brown recovered. On the following play, the Freshman connection of Brewster and White would give the Aggies the lead on a 32 yard TD pass. 38-35 USU. UAB still had 2 minutes to go down the field and win or force OT. The same offense that had scored in the final minute of the first half. But the Aggies defense held their ground, and on 4th and 5 forced an incomplete pass to take back the ball. It was still not over, as UAB had all 3 timeouts remaining, but the they would not be used on defense, as Aggies runningback Harvey Davis took a 31 yard carry to the end zone to seal the comeback victory.

Freshman QB earns the player of the game award for going 19-36 for 419 yards and 4 TDs (3 pass, 1 run) and 1 interception. (Despite 9 total dropped passes)

    WEEK 6 POTW

    Offensive

Western Michigan sophomore HB Tevin Drake. Tevin had 25 carries for 285 yards and 4TDs to go along with 41 receiving yards in a 49-45 win against ULM. Tevin is also the National Offensive POTW.

    —-------------------------

    Defensive

Utah State sophomore CB Sean Young. Sean had a tackle and 2 assists (and I'm guessing an int or two) in a 48-21 raping of Kent State.

    ULM vs #21 Texas Tech

ULM thought that this game was going to be different, maybe this game they were going to bring some defense. The 1st drive of the game ULM linebacker, Blakes takes the option pitch the other way for a 46 yard TD after Tech was moving the ball down the field and the D is confident. That confidence ends just about there. The very next drive Tech marches down the field for a score.
Luckily for ULM running back Isiah Newsome came to play today because on their very first game he took his longest rush of the day (78 yards) to the house. After that it was back and fourth while the teams' went into half time with Tech having a 1 point lead.

During the 3rd quater ULM's D showed some life by keeping Tech without a score. Though the defensive gave up 50 points for the game they did manage a few key 3rd stops whch helped give ULM the victory.

ULM quaterback Cody Wells managed to avoid turnovers today and he threw for 2 TDS. The star of the game for ULM was Newsome who ran for 197 yards and 3 tds, while under study Centarius Donald picked up 79 yards on just 8 carries for 2 TDs (though he
did have the games only turnover late in the 4th, which opened the door for Tech.

Tech QB Seth Doeg through for 578 yard and 6 TD's on 58 attempts, its a wonder how his team couldn't pull of the victory.

Final score ULM 57- Tech 50

ULM moves to 4-2 on the season.

That's almost more impressive than winning. I don't think I've ever seen 31 points allowed in a quarter. Teach me your ways.

Damn EMU's team is awful. Vandals win going away.... 24 unanswered for the 24-7 win in Ypsilanti. Full writeup when I'm home from the Cotton Bowl.
