Week 7: Bills 24 Ravens 19 The Buffalo Bills came out of their bye week determined to snap a two game losing skid, against a Ravens team that was just looking for any win they could get after a tough start to the season. In the end, the Bills came out on top in a close one, 24-19. A tight first quarter set the tone for the game, with the Ravens getting the ball first and slowly marching down the field before finally getting stopped on 3rd and goal, leading to a 19 yard field goal. The Bills would get the ball and do exactly the same thing, carefully advancing before the Ravens defense managed to make some plays and force the Bills to kick a 39 yard field goal of their own. After forcing the Ravens to punt, Buffalo would be the first team to get into the endzone through CJ Spiller on a hb dive from the 2 yard line, giving themselves the lead for the first time. The Ravens would manage to kick a late field goal from 48 yards to cut the score to 10-6 heading into halftime. The Bills got the ball but were forced to punt almost immediately, leading to Baltimore's first TD of the day on a qb sneak from Joe Flacco, 13-10 Ravens. They would hold the lead until the first play of the last quarter, when Robert You made the best throw that Coach SRC had ever seen him make, finding rarely used WR James Hardy for the 14 yard TD, giving the Bills a lead they wouldn't lose again. The Ravens threated heavily on the following drive, getting as far as a 4th and goal from the 5 yard line, but the Bills defense stepped and and Flacco threw incomplete. The win was just about sealed on the first play of the next drive when Spiller took an outside handoff 95 yards to the house, showing the kind of speed that will make him a star in this league. To their credit, the Ravens fought back and scored very quickly to cut the lead down to 5 with 1:57 remaining, but after failing to convert the 2 point attempt and the onside kick that followed, all the Bills had to do was run the clock down on and leave with the victory. Spiller finished with good stats but didn't really have a good game, other than the 95 yard TD he had only 33 yards on 17 carries. Flacco was fantastic for the Ravens, throwing for 362 yards and 1 TD on 19/28, his TE Ed Dickson being the favourite target with 8 catches for 109 yards and some key first downs. The Bills suffered one potentially serious injury, Lee Evans leaving with an upper arm fracture in the third quarter, but he'll only miss next week. (thank god) GG Weblink.
