Week 7: Chicago (14) Detroit (19) The Lions Squeak Out a Win Going into their Bye Week. In a game that was plagued with 7 turnovers the Lions barely pulled off the victory as they stopped the Bears comeback chances with an incomplete pass in the fourth quarter. Matthew Stafford accounted for three of those as he made some poor reads and threw right into coverage on three accounts. Even though he had a lot of mistakes he was able to lead the Lions to victory on their last drive to finish the day with 22 completions on 40 attempts for 294 yards and 1 touchdown. Cutler on the other hand was having difficulty finding open receivers as he only completed 9 passes out of 24 for 161 yards and 1 Td, but also contributed 2 interceptions and a lost fumble as well.. Overall it a defensive battle as both team's offenses just couldn't figure out the other team's defense. Mean while on the ground the Bears racked up 80 yards on 18 attempts while the Lions had a measly 40 yards on 20 attempts. Unfortunately for the Lions 18 of those were from running backs that weren't named Kevin Smith as he broke his collarbone on the first TD of the game and will be out for 9 weeks. We'll see if the Lions can muster up a run game behind Aaron Brown and Lorenzo Booker in the coming weeks. In the Receiving game Calvin Johnson had a monster game as he pulled in 10 receptions for 118 yards and the game winning TD. He had a lot of opportunities deep, but Stafford just didnt have the accuracy to hit him as he overthrew him just about every time. Reggie Wayne also had a big contribution as he took in 5 receptions for 90 yards. On the Bear's side Johnny Knox burnt the defense deep for a 69 yard TD as Louis Delmas missed his assignment. Aside from Knox's big TD the rest of the Bear's receivers pulled in 1 or 2 receptions for about 20-30 yards. MVP: Calvin Johnson 10 rec 118 yards 1 TD GG Chrisdstan GL the rest of the year.
