Chiefs at Chargers The Chiefs took the opening possession of the first of two match-ups between division rivals and drove the ball straight down the field with a dominating run game ending with a 5 yard TD pass to Donnie Avery from Alex Smith hitting right between the numbers. On the ensuing possession the Chargers were able to even the score with a 50 yard TD connection from Phillip Rivers to Eddie Royal. Rivers absolutely dropped it in the bucket. The score went into the half 7-7 as both teams traded numerous punts and turnovers in a defensive struggle. San Diego finally got in a rhythm late in the 3rd as they were able to finally to sustain a drive but it stalled inside the 10 yard line after an errant Rivers pass as they settled for a field goal making it 10-7 Bolts. Alex Smith was injured on a hard hit in the pocket and in came Chase Daniel off the bench and they Chiefs responded with a drive into Chargers territory but the back up QB was picked off my rookie CB sensation Jason Verrett in the endzone swinging the mometum back to the Chargers. After the INT the Chargers grinded out a long drive with the ground game wearing down the KC defense ending with a 10 yard Ryan Mathews run into the endzone extended the Charger lead to 17-7 late in the 4th. The Chiefs with the ball late in the game in desperation mode, Alex Smith returned and under pressure, was picked of by Jahleel Addae for his second INT. He was able to take it the short distance to the house sealing the victory for San Diego. This game was much closer than the final score will indicate but the Chargers picked up a huge division win. Good game Rhight . See you in week 17 to close out the season in a game that could have big time playoff implications.
