    The Red River Shootout
    #1 5-0 Oklahoma vs. #2 5-0 Texas

This is only the third time these two rivals take the field ranked 1 and 2 (Texas 1-0-1). This game decides the Big 12 South and ultimately the National Championship. Sam Bradford the 2008 Heisman Trophy Winner returned to school after as BCS Championship runner up. Last year his Sooners lost to Texas 45-35. YOu know he, Jermaine Gresham, and Gerald McCoy all returned to avenge that stinging loss. It hurts the Oklahoma faithful more to lose to Texas than even losing a National Championship.

Colt McCoy returned to Texas with one thing in mind. He wanted to lead his team to a National Championship. He has sought advice from Longhorn Legend Vince Young who accomplished the feet. He put it in a tremendous amount of work to get to this point He's poised and ready. Sergio Kindle and the Texas defense are pepared as well. Can Colt and the cavalry do it again?

More than bragging rights are on the line as these two great rivals battle it out in the Heart of Texas to determine who's the real deal in 2009!

    Texas leads the series 57-40-5

Will Colt have his team loose and ready to play?

Or will Oklahoma have an answer for the Longhorns this year

Colt will try to bounce back from his so-so game against Colorado last week. He went 19-31, 336 yds (est, at work) 2 tds and 1 int (pick six). His main target Jordan Shipley went down with an injury late in the 2nd quarter, so Malcolm Williams had to carry the load at receiver finishing with a pretty strong day which included both of Colt's TD passes.

If we thought the Buffalo defense was intense, the Sooners are sure to bring alot more to the table, including on offense. This game has title implications so the importance of a win or loss is crucial.

*More in-depth pre-game talk to come this afternoon/evening.

It would kill bandwidth, I'm in the near future process of buying a PVR to record my games soon as money issues straighten out. I know this doesn't do any good for our game though lol

    Red River Shootout Pre-Game

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3 Column 4

    PDEF 1253 1187
    TO DIFF 2 -1

Looking at the numbers these two teams are almost similar in most categories or not far from one another in all. The Sooners feature an impressive running attack led by the dangerous Demarco Murray.

The Sooner offense presents a huge problem, because you cannot simply stack the box against them. They feature the reigning Heisman winner Sam Bradford at QB. So the Texas D will have to keep a balance focus on slowing this offense down. He has a host of playmakers to throw to as well with big TE Jermaine Gresham and speedy receiver Ryan Broyles.

The Texas offense won't have it easy either, especially the receivers. They will be hounded by the solid Sooner corners and rest of their secondary. We have some things we will implement to get them open and make plays. Colt will need to led the offense and make changes accordingly to what the D is giving us.

This should be a great game between the two, alot of star power out on the field.

Texas Wins In OT 30-27 In Red River Shootout

Texas was able to get the victory in what was a great game with Oklahoma. Both teams did disappoint and came out ready to play from the coin toss.

Oklahoma would elect to kick first after winning the toss. Colt went to work matriculating the ball downfield eventually hitting Brandon Collins on a 13-yd TD pass. The Sooners said anything you do I can do better, and would put together a drive of their own. Heisman sensation Demarco Murray would pick his way through the hole and score on a 34-yd TD run to tie things up.
Texas would again take the ball downfield, but this time settle for a field goal to make it 10-7.
Both defenses stepped up in the 2nd quarter making it difficult for either team to score until the last 3 seconds of the half. Sooners was able to hit a streaking Ryan Broyles for a 53-yd TD, taking the lead into the half 14-10.

The 3rd quarter would be much like the 1st, both offenses came alive again. Texas would force a turnover, then cap off a drive with a 6-yd TD run by Vondrel McGee. Not to be outdone the Sooners would take the ball downfield and Murray would get another scamper into the endzone 21-17 OU.
In the 4th both defenses would again clamp down, especially Oklahoma. Texas would get into the redzone but throw a costly pick at the 3-yd line. Oklahoma would drive down the field effectively getting in scoring range. Bradford ducks a near sack and attempts to hit his receiver in the corner of the endzone, but Keenan Robinson read it and picked it off taking it back 98-yds for the TD and the lead 24-21. Oklahoma would have a chance to win the game or atleast tie. Bradford lead his offense down field just shy of the redzone but had to settle for a field goal to tie things up. Texas would run the clock out for OT.

Texas won the OT coin toss and chose to put the Oklahoma offense on the field again. The Longhorn D held strong and forced a Sooner field goal. Colt came out wanting to get the ball in the endzone and thats just what he did on the 2nd play. Colt sense the blitzed from the left coming, so he slide to the right and spotted Jordan Shipley heading into the corner of the endzone with a step. He got rid of the ball barely and found Shipley for the game winner. Texas Wins!

    Players of the Game
Jordan Shipley (Texas): 6 recs, 140 yds, 1 td (game winner in OT)
Demarco Murray (Oklahoma): 28 carries, 149 yds, 2 tds
