The Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears came into their week 7 game with the top 2 passing defenses in the league this season. The Panthers made a huge mistake early as Cam Newton tried to strike fast on the first play of the game, going deep to speedster Patrick Wilkerson, only to be picked off by the opportunistic Chicago D. The top ranked Carolina defense came to the rescue, as they held the Bears to a 3 and out on the ensuing possession. The Panthers offense returned the favor late in the game, as a 4th quarter touchdown would put an end to a comeback attempt by the Bears, who had scored two straight touchdowns.

Despite the early turnover, the Panthers played a complete game on both sides of the ball, to defeat the defending NFC Champion Bears (in played seasons) on the road 40-17. The Panthers defense picked off Bears quarterback Jay Cutler 3 times on the day, returning two for touchdowns in back to back possessions in the 2nd half.

With the victory the Panthers move to 7-0 on the season and host the division rival Atlanta Falcons in week 8. The Bears fall to 3-3 and go on the road in week 8 to take on the New York Giants.
