    Blue Raiders win, Stockstill Benched

The Blue Raiders moved to 3-3 on the season and 1-1 in Conference USA play with a 24 to 21 victory over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. Both defenses would come out strong in the first half, with the only points of the first 2 quarters came with 16 seconds left in the half as MTSU kicker Cannon Rooker would connect on a FG attempt from 25 yards out.

The Bulldogs would receive the 2nd half kickoff but fail to do anything with the ball, and then Coach Hickerson would turn some heads as he benched his QB, Brent Stockstill, whom he has said since week 1 was THE quarterback. In would come sophomore Austin Grammer and after his first drive was out of the way, he would look like he hadn't missed a beat since suffering the concussion in week 1, that ultimately lost him the QB competition with Stockstill. After La. Tech took the lead with just over 3:30 left in the third quarter, Grammer would take his 2nd drive and lead the team down field, before connecting with fullback Aaron Brooks on a little 5 yard play action pass out in the flats for a touchdown pass.

With 5 minutes left in 4th, Grammer would find his fullback again, this time from 10 yards out for his 2nd touchdown pass of the day oto put the Blue Raiders up 17-7. La Tech would not go down without a fight however, answering with a 10 yard touchdown run. Jordan Parker and Reggie Whatley would carry the load on the next drive for the Blue Raiders, before Parker punched it in from 3 yards out.

La Tech would go on to add one more garbage time touchdown to make the final 24 to 21. Grammer went 7-9 for 80 yards and 2 touchdowns in the 2nd half after entering the game. JR halfback Jordan Parker totaled 26 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

MTSU will try to get above the .500 mark next week, and pick up their first road victory of the season as they travel to Hattesburg to take on Southern Miss and coach bigtubb_ .
