Utah comes out and pull out a win. The game was a lot closer then the score shows. Josh Porter went for 11-19 263 yards and a TD. On defense the Utes defense was great in the red zone. Arizona State would have won this game if the WRs could hold on to the ball. Arizona State had a touchdown but the TE Michael Jones some how drops the ball. The game was sealed on a interception by Tim Harris. Tim had 7 tackles 1 sack and 1 interception. Great game

    UTAH 17
    Arizona State 3

    CALIFORNIA KNOCKS OFF UNDEFEATED
    OREGON STATE IN SHUTOUT 17-0
    [IMG]
Cal's defense dominated and handed the undefeated Beavers their first loss of the season
The Golden Bears were set to host the undefeated Oregon State Beavers with new Head Coach Peench at the helm. The Cal v OSU rivalry has always been one of the best in the Pac-12 conference and both were hoping their teams could live up to the tradition of the classic matchup.
Cal elected to kick which gave OSU the ball first. California forced a quick three and out to give their offense the ball for their first drive. The Golden Bear offense put together a very lengthy drive but the Beaver's defense turned up the heat inside the red-zone. A Justin Sledge field goal gave Cal the only points of the first quarter to amass a 3-0 lead.

Seth Fritz's fumble was luckily recovered despite looking like a defensive TD for OSU
The defenses absolutely dominated in the second quarter and no team added a single point to the scoreboard. The defining moment of the quarter occured as QB Seth Fritz dropped back and was tattoed by a Beaver defensive lineman. He proceeded to fumble but RB Shaun Young quickly fell on the football before the OSU defense could advance the ball for a touchdown. Cal lead 3-0 at halftime.

California's offense really began to put together some impressive drives in the second half. The opening drive of the half Cal marched down the field methodically and third string QB (back-up due to injury) Josh Martin tossed a slant pattern on third and goal to WR Nick Green for a 10 yard touchdown. Green laid out for the football in acrobatic fashion to score the first touchdown of the game. Up 10-0 Cal continued to dominate on defense.
SS Julian Robinson added two picks in the second half that aided the defense in sealing the shutout. California added the final points of the game on a 2 yard TD rush by RB Brenton Smith on a read option play.
Once again the turnover battle and making stops when it counted paved the path to victory for Cal. The game was extremely close but the Golden Bears were able to take advantage of the home crowd and break through in the second half. Cal doubled the time of possession of Oregon State.
GG I Peench , we'll have our hands full in Corvalis next season.

    Week 7
    Stanford 26
    Washington St 31
The Cardinals went into week 7 with hopes of earning a conference win but it wasn't in the cards to Stanford on Saturday. The Cougars came out hitting on all cylinders in the first half and were able to get a good cushion going in to half-time. The Cardinal defense was able to limit Washington State to on 7 points in the second half while the offense tried to mount there comeback. The offense really had all the opportunities to win this game in the second half but throwing 3 redzone INT's really hurt our chances. However down 5 with less than a minute to go we recover the onside kick and have one last shot to win the game but we weren't able to capitalize.

Next week we return home to play the Oregon Ducks..
