Week 8 Game Summaries
Post them here -
Air Force - 28
Utah - 31
Coming of their first loss of the season, Air Force was looking to pick up a win vs Mountain West Rival Utah this week. Poor play early, missed FG's and turnovers would cost the Falcons, as they would fall to Utah in a close one, 28-31.
Utah got on the board early with a 41 Yard strike from QB Wynn to WR A.Key. Air Force would answer back with a 12 yard pass from QB Jefferson to WR Fogler. 7-7 half
After an incredible 41 yard TD run by Utah RB Asiata, Air Force RB B.Michaels returned a kickoff 91 yards to tie it back up. 14-14
That would be the last time it was close, as Air Force missed key FG's and Utah capitalized by scoring 2 more TD's, including a 50 Yard Run from RB Asiata. Air Force had a chance with under 1 minute left, but they failed to recover an onside kick. 28-31 Utah

Defense, defense, defense was the theme of the game for the Green Wave as they held Houston's potent attack to a field goal for three quarters. Offensively the Green Wave kept Houston off the field with a steady dose of RB A. Anderson. The senior was a workhorse and was named player of the game for his 40 carry, 248 yrd, 2 TD performance. QB J. Kemp also came up big going 17-21 for 225 yds, 1 TD, and 1 INT.
Stats that told the story:
First downs: 22-12
3rd Down Conv: Tul 7-10 for 70%
i think that was week 7 but anyways
houston bounced back with a easy victory against division foe
Kent State Stumbles and Fumbles its way to victory
On the second play of the game Kent State was burned badly with a 70 yard touchdown run Ohio. The crowd was shocked, but on the ensuing kickoff KS pulled even returning it for a TD. Kent State started to take command of the game with a finesse passing game, but Ohio kept the game close in what was shaping up to be a very high scoring game.
The second would play out quite differently. Ohio started to sputter offensively and Kent State looked poised to capitalize. The finesse passing game had opened up big lanes to run through, Kent State emerged with a power running game.
The offensive line did its job opening gaping holes the entire half, but the RB's kept putting the ball on the ground (3 times!)and the QB threw up some easy picks. One of the fumbles was returned for an 80yd TD.
Remarkably, the defense was stout and allowed no points in the second half, allowing Kent State to escape with a 3 point victory in a game they probably should have lost.
KS 31 - Ohio 28
WKU 41 MTSU 31
Led by an insane passing attack WKU jumped out to a 31-7 halftime lead. Inexperience on Vasquez allowed MTSU to get back in the game, making it 31-23 going into the 4th. In the 4th, Hayden, the senior, took over. He had over 100 yards rushin and over 100 yards receiving on the game. Vasquez threw for over 300 yards. WKU gained over 500 yards as a team. Pass defense had some good moments but still needs work. Good win to help save the season.
