    #1 Tigers Keep Rolling

Terrance Gilmore powers his way in for a touchdown

The #1 LSU Tigers went to Auburn and took down the their rivals to improve to 7-0. LSU fell behind when Auburn took the opening kickoff, then marched down the field scoring on a 1-yard pass from Neil Caudle to D Adams to take a 7-0 lead, but they wouldn't reach the end zone again for the rest of the game. 2:21 later, LSU tied the game up on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jordan Jefferson to star wideout Terrance Toliver. LSU's defense then stiffened and forced the Auburn Tigers to punt. On the ensuing drive, the nation's 4th leading rusher, freshman running back Terrance Gilmore scored on a 3-yard run to give LSU their first lead of the game. Four and a half minutes later, Jefferson ran an option to the left and kept the ball for a touchdown to put LSU up 21-7 heading into halftime.

9 Jordan Jefferson scores on an option in the 2nd quarter. 59 Chancey Aghayere sacks Auburn quarterback Neil Caudle

The 3rd quarter was a defensive battle with each team only managing a field goal, Josh Jasper connected from 22 yards out for LSU, while Auburn got 3 points from Will Byrum's 27-yard field goal. Ron Brooks made a nice interception along the sideline for LSU and the Tiger defense continued to get pressure on Caudle. With the score 24-10 heading into the 4th quarter, LSU managed to add 10 points to their score on another 22-yard field goal by Jasper and then they capped the scoring off with a 9-yard touchdown catch by 3rd-string quarterback turned slot receiver Russell Shepard.

Jordan Jefferson was named Player of the Game after amassing 213 yards of total offense and racking up 3 touchdowns, 2 passing, 1 rushing. LSU is now 5-0 in the SEC and will return home for the first time in a month for a non-conference game against South Florida.
