    Week 8 Scores

Wow What a crazy game! The #9 Penn State Nittany Lions survive the Northwestern Wildcats tough play, and win with a last second field goal, 34-31. JR QB Kevin Newsome had to make more plays than he is used to, because the Wildcats really shut down the Vaunted Running game of the Lions. Kevin completed 58% of his passes for 228 Yards and 2TDs with No Ints. Newsomes Legs were also good for 45 yards rushing. SR HB Stephfon Green was held to 77 yards and 1 TD. Defensive Player of the game goes to MLB Michael Mauti. Mauti had 10 Tackles, 5TFL, and 2 Sacks. Maybe the #9Lions(6-1)(4-0) were caught looking ahead to next weeks big time Big Ten matchup against the #12 Ohio State Buckeyes.

Whenever I use the Hawkeyes, JNWU always plays me tough. I have had a few close calls with them, just like real life.

    Michigan Closes Out Purdue 34-21!

The Unranked Wolverines ran off the rust of last week's loss to Penn St. to a 34-21 victory over the pesky Boilmakers. the offense had 499 total yrds in the victory. Michigan started the game with a new playbook and ran it to perfection in running to the end zone chewing up almost 4 min. of the 1st Q. But Purdue and that pattened passing attack took center stage as their running gm was no where to be found. purdue drove down the field to top it off on a running play for the tying t.d. Then in the start of the 2nd quarter Michigan was driving down to the 3 yrd line when Forcier tried an option pitch to Smith and fumbled it and it was returned for a 14-7 purdue lead. Instead of Tanking after the opp. score a go-ahead t.d. Michigan tied right up in 2 plays with Forcier finding Odoms for 68 yrds for a 14-14 tie. then after a 3&Out for Purdue, Michigan showed why their 2 min off is like the Niners of the 80's. 3 quick passes brought the ball down to the Purdue 15, then Michigan polished it off with a toss sweep for a 21-14 H.T. Lead. Michigan got the ball the 2nd half and tried to dupilcate the 1st Q drive and was held after chewing up almost 3 1/2 min of the 3rd Q. Purdue got the ball back and tied it up on a WR screen pass to bush who took it 79 yrd to paydirt for a 21-21 tie. Then in the 4th Q. Michigan had a Drive going when they were stopped after being sacked to force a fg. the Kicker missed his 2nd of the gm. then the Def forced a 3&O. Michigan had the ball trying to drive to win the gm. were faced with a 4th & 3, Coach Grad decided to go for it and the qb robinson was sacked on the play. So all Purdue Needed was a T.D. or a F.G. for the Lead. But their Sr Kicker missed wide right which gave Michigan new Life. Then Michigan Drove it down under 2 min to punch it in with Tucker getting his 2nd t.d. of the gm and a 28-21 lead with 20 sec remaining. Mich kicked it short to prevent the Return for a T.d. and Purdue had the ball with little time remaining. Purdue tried a Long Pass, No Good. then on 2nd d. Purdue's qb threw his 1st Int and it was returned 39 yrds to close the gm.

Coach Grad had this to say after the ballgame."I'm very happy we came out with the win. This team would not quit and we were prepared for a fight. That's what the Big Ten is all about, every week u have to show up ready to play. and asked bout his 3-3 record he said. "well we've had a very tough yr and we are halfway home so we just have to continue to play our best and hope we can advoid the long injuries".

Michigan goes to 3-3 on the yr and 2-1 in the Conf. Purdue falls to 3-4 and 1-3 in the Conf.

The Buckeyes down Wisconsin 21-6 in a yawner. Both teams gain under 300 yards in offense and the sole drama is a goalline stand by Ohio State in the third quarter to perserve a 14-6 lead. OSU controls the clock and goes on a 98 yard drive to build a two score lead late in the third. RB Herron gets hurt again and is questionable for the big contest with Penn State.
