The Minnesota Vikings came into today's game on a high note after starting the season 6-1. With the likes of a great running back in Adrian Peterson, the Vikings have been the talk of the NFC. Coach Bob and the Carolina Panthers knew it would be an incredibly difficult task stopping the Vikings. As expected AP broke out for 244 yards on the ground, but the key stat was he did not score a single touchdown. A bend but don't break philosophy really helped the Panthers today. The defense would also record 4 takeaways including a pick six that would change the momentum of the game. QB Cam Newton wasn't spectacular but he was effcient throwing for over 220 yards. The biggest offensive star on the night was HB DeAngelo Williams. Williams would bust free for a huge run in the second half, that would ultimately be the deciding score. The Panthers would win 31-24. GG CA

Jones-Drew Breaks Rushing Record as Jags Beat Texans in a Thriller
    [IMG]
What a game as the Jaguars won on the final play of the game. Maurice Jones-Drew pounded in the football from the 2 yard line as time expired to win the game. "We wanted to catch them off guard", Jones-Drew said, "it was a little risky, but the coaches trusted me the get the ball into the endzone". Jones-Drew finished the game with 338 yards with 4 TD's. This was a very exciting game as it went on back and forth through out the game. The Texans took the lead with one minute left in the game. Then the Jaguars and Blaine Gabbert went down the field and Jones-Drew pounded in the football as time expired. For the Texans, Andre Johnson carved up the Jags defense catching 8 balls for 181 yards and 2 TD's. On the other side of the ball, the Jaguars rookie QB Blaine Gabbert had a solid game going 13 of 19 for 186 yards. "We just wanted to make sure Blaine didn't get into a shootout with Matt Schaub", the Jags coach said. Next up for the Jaguars they take on the 2-5 Carolina Panthers in Jacksonville.

    [IMG][IMG]

Ravens come up with win that may save season. Starting out 0-4 this was a must win vs the defending super bowl champs.
The game started with the ravens getting the ball but going 3 and out. Bengals 1st drive mothoticly moved down the field but the ravens would hold and force a 4th and inches. Being so early the bengals took the points. 3-0. Ravens would get the ball and again 3 and out. Bengals would drive and 1st play of 2nd quarter bengals get a 5 yd Wells TD run. Ravens still looking for their first 1st down forced a pass ended up an interception to leon hall. This would set up another bengals TD 3yd pass to Gresham.
17-0. The ravens finally got the ball moving with the running game that was capped off with a 4 yd pass to Dickson. Bengals would drive again but force to kick another FG on 4th and inches seeming like a blow out 20-7. Ravens would make a 2 min drive and would find themselves at 3rd down at the 1 with no tie outs and 4 secs left in the half. Being the ravens had nothing to lose they went for the Td rather than the FG with a 1 yd Ray Rice TD. 20-14 half
Ravens would force a int close to the bengals 20. This wouldnt last as the 1st play was an int in the endzone giving the ball right back. The bengals would try running the ball but a big hit forced a fumble recovered by mr.raven himself ray lewis. This time ravens tightened up and ran the ball ending with a 3 yd pass to dickson. 21-20 . Bengals would answer with their own points 2 FGs. end of 3rd 26-21 bengals.
The 4th started out with the ravens holding the ball and would not want to risk another int when to their ground game and would get a 14 yd TD run from rookie o.smith.28-26
Bengals would quickly answer with a 42 yd TD to Simpson. 34-28 With 3 mins left the ravens used the ray rice and would get a 6 yd TD for the lead. 35-34 ravens. Ravens would have thier D step up with a jimmy smith int returned to the 1 and rice would finish it with a TD. 42-34. Only up 8 Bengals had a chance still but around mid field just added to the roster Will Allen got his 2nd pick to seal it. Ravens win a 42-34 thriller.

    Falcons Contain CJ2K, Defeat Titans

    Atlanta 17 - Tennessee 7

Chris Johnson couldn't really get anything going as he finished the game with 72 yds on the ground.

    Atlanta -

Coming into week 8, the Falcons were looking for revenge against a tough Tennessee team. The Titans were one of only three teams to hand Atlanta a loss during the Falcon's 14-2 season in 2011.

Coach Mike Smith knew it wouldn't be easy though.

"We need to stop Chris Johnson if we're going to win," said Smith pregame. "If Johnson gets going, we're going to lose. Its as simple as that."

Atlanta's defense answered Smith's call and rose to the occasion. They did a nice job all day containing Johnson and holding him to only 72 yards on the ground. They also pressured QB Jake Locker all game long and caused forced throws and hurried decisions. Atlanta's defense finished with 4 sacks, 2 INTs, and 1 forced fumble.

The Falcons improve to 5-2 on the season while the Titans now drop to 3-4.

Rams with Statement Win Over 49ers
Team Runs all over Division Rivals in 56-10 Win

    St Louis, Missouri

The Rams wanted to make a statement in this game. There have been times this season where Steven Jackson has been frustrated with the constant 8 and 9 men in the box he has seen, today, it wouldn't have mattered if the 49ers had 13 guys on the field all trying to stop the run, Jackson was not going to be denied. Only a day after MJD broke the rushing record Jackson decided he would go ahead and break the new mark, rushing for 354 yards and 6 TDs on 31 carries. Rookie Running Back Sterlin Freeman also got in on the action, as his 4th quarter 11 yard run gave him 67 yards on 7 carries and a TD. Sam Bradford wasn't needed for the day, but still put in an efficient 7-9 for 124 yards and TD, including the 76 yard bomb to rookie WR Branch as the clock hit triple zeros at halftime to give the Rams the 28-10 lead at the break. Steven Jackson would score 3 of his 6 TDs in the 3rd quarter on 80, 11, and 36 yard runs.

At 5-2, the Rams now face the Falcons and Seahawks in two key matchups, and with their head coach going on a leave of absence immediately following the Seattle game, the team will want to make sure they do their best to get two key wins.
