#1 Kansas 34
Penn State 3
The newly ranked number 1 Jayhawks hosted Penn St. and quietly dominated the game. Kansas won just how they’ve won all season, by winning the turnover battle 3-0. This time, CB Greg Brown was the star on defense, intercepting 3 passes, 1 of which was returned for a score. MLB Darius Willis looked good with 13 tackles. Freshman QB Mike Cummings played very well again completing 11 of 17 passes for 216 yards, and most importantly no turnovers.
Mike Cummings (QB)- 11-17 for 216 yards, TD
James Sims (HB)- 6 carries for 45 yards
Darrian Miller (HB)- 14 carries for 54 yards, 2 TD
Jimmy Mundine (TE)- 2 receptions for 72 yards, TD
Marquise Jackson (WR)- 2 receptions for 58 yards
Greg Brown (CB)- 5 tackles, 3 INT, 3 PD
Darius Willis (MLB)- 13 tackles, 2 TFL
Clemson was down 7-3 at the half after QB Tahj Boyd fumbled and it was returned for a TD. In the 2nd hald, the Tigers woke up and were able to move the ball well through the air and on the ground. The score was somewhat deceiving as they scored a couple late TDs, but they put it away early in the 4th on a run by backup RB Adam Bellamy.
Clemson is now 4-3 and with a favorable schedule down the stretch has an outside chance of getting to the ACC CC if FSU happens to stumble at all.
FSU defense dominates in 55-0 win over Wake Forest It was a combination of strong defensive play and opportunistic passing that lead to Florida State's rout over the Demon Deacons in rainy Tallahassee. Florida State got on the board early when Willie Haulstead caught a 45 yard pass from EJ Manuel on third down. After forcing Wake to a three and out, Manuel had another long TD pass this time to Kenny Shaw who ran in untouched for a 41 yard scoring play. Chris Thompson who struggled for much of the day helped Florida State gain a 21 point lead midway through the 2nd when he took an inside handoff 35 yards for the score. On the next possession SS Karlos Williams ended a promising Wake Forest drive when he intercepted a Tanner Price pass and went 69 yards for the score. Lonnie Pryor added another touchdown just before the end of the half giving the Seminoles a 35-0 lead. FSU added 2 more touchdowns in the 3rd quarter and 2 field goals in the 4th to complete the blowout at 55-0. The defense for the Seminoles was masterful throughout the game and will face a huge test when they travel to South Bend to face Notre Dame next week. Texas survives a shootout in Austin as both QBs were on top of thier game, but the defenses proved to be the difference as Texas was able to make a few more stops and force 2 turnovers that proved to be the deciding factors in the game. Case McCoy turns in another 4 TD performance
