    Week 9: Rams 23 Falcons 14

The St. Louis Rams run their win streak to 4 while the Atlanta Falcons extend their losing streak to 5 with a hard fought 23-14 victory for the surging Rams. Both defenses played pretty well in this one but the Rams found just enough offense without HB Steven Jackson to pull this game out in the end. Coach Bluebean is very satisfied with a 6-3 record going into the bye week after starting the season 2-3. Good Game by SHuffman, he can hang in any game with that pretty stout defense. Here is a quick Scoring Summary.

    1st Quarter:

Atlanta Falcons received the opening kickoff but went three and out before punting the ball over to the Rams. The St. Louis Rams then drove the ball the length of the field while converting on two 4th and inches and punched it in from 1 yard out with FB Mike Karney to take a 7-0 lead.

    2nd Quarter:

St. Louis Rams were able to get another nice drive and add a FG with 5:55 to play in the 1st half and make it a 10-0 Rams lead.

Atlanta Falcons take the ensuing kickoff and drive all the way down the field and are faced with a 4th and 1 from the Rams 2 with 2:39 to go in the half and here is the call. " Ryan under center, the snap, the pitch to the right, Turner is blown up in the backfield for a 4 yard loss by Clinton Session and the Rams have held!" With that, we go into the locker room. Rams 10 Falcons 0

    3rd Quarter:

St. Louis Rams receive the second half kickoff and it doesn't take long for the Falcons defense to create a big play for their first points of the game. Atlanta's rookie CB Joseph Howard picks off a Matt Cassel pass and returns it down the sideline 61 yards for a TD to cut the lead to 10-7 Rams with 7:03 remaining.

The Rams then take the next drive down the field with a strong passing attack and score on a Joseph Addai dive out of the wildcat formation for a 1 yard TD to extend the Rams lead to 17-7

The Falcons answer right back though with a long pass to their TE Garoppolo. Then Ryan finds Garoppolo again for a 21 yard TD pass to cut the Rams lead to 17-14.

    4th Quarter:

The Rams take the next drive down the field but stall and Josh Brown is able to connect from 52 yards out to make the score 20-14 Rams.

So similar to last weeks Seahawks game when the Rams LB Alonzi Simms came up with a big interception in the 4th Quarter when leading by just a few points; lightning struck again for the second week in a row. On the Falcons next possession, Ryan dropped back to pass while the Rams were not going to let the TE Garoppolo win this game. The Rams spotlighted him and CB Chevis Jackson was creeping in the flats and picked off Ryan for a game saving turnover.

The Rams then ran the ball and later settled for a Josh Brown 34 yard FG to pretty much put the game out of reach at 23-14 with 2:23 to play. The Falcons ended up turning the ball over on downs and that is the final. Great game again SHuffman

    St. Louis Rams: 6-3
    Atlanta Falcons: 3-5

Falcons are toast, the guy doesn't even read these forums because I've been taking shoots at him in my articles all year with no response.
