The Cleveland Browns proved once again they have one of the best defenses and special teams in the league, and defeated the Baltimore Ravens 23-17. The Browns once again won despite their offense not because of it. Cleveland's receivers accounted for 6 dropped passes, two of which would have provided big first downs. QB Brandon Weeden had a small victory in that he only threw one interception. HB Trent Richardson ran hard, but found very little running room. It was the Cleveland defense's constant pressure of Flacco and complete shutdown of the run game that allowed the Browns to come away with the victory.

The Browns jumped out quickly with a big play action pass to WR Greg Little which set up Richardson for a 2 yard TD run. The Browns would tack on a FG to take a 10-0 lead. The Ravens fought back in the second quarter with a FG and a TD run by QB Joe Flacco on a sneak. This sent the game to the half tied at 10. The biggest play of the game came in the third quarter. The Browns were forced to punt after a big dropped pass, and looked dejected. They had been unable to move the ball since the first quarter, and all the momentum seemed to be in the Ravens corner. The Browns called the perfect blitz right into the same side as a run play, and HB Ray Rice was nailed. Rice fumbled the ball, and LB Chris Gocong scooped it up for a 22 yard TD run.

The Ravens would tie it up early in the fourth quarter. Rice ran it in from two yards out to tie the game. Neither team could get much going the rest of the quarter, until the Browns moved the ball with under two minutes to go. This set up a 51 yard FG to take the lead. The Browns forced a turnover on downs on the next possession, and tacked on another FG with 37 seconds to go. The win moves the Browns to 5-4 heading into their bye week. They travel to Dallas in two weeks. The Ravens fall to 2-6. They host the Raiders next week.

Big time defensive struggle in this one. Neither team could get anything on the ground. A few big pass plays here and there, but the defenses still both played near the line of scrimmage throughout. Def agree that the Gocong fumble return changed the game. That is Rice's 4th fumble this year, I will have to increase his carry rating because that is way too many for a top 3 back.

    Well played dj illmatic 23
