    Michigan Loses Close One. 48-46!

    Ann Arbor, Mich.

Michigan possibly had a chance to crack the top 25 after this week with a win, but will have to settle for a 2 pnt loss. Michigan started the game out well using up 4:50 seconds of the 1st Q clock after holding iowa to a 3 & O. Smith topped it off with a 5 yrd T.d. Run (finished with 66 yrds on the day). Then Iowa woke up Scoring 35 pnts in the 2nd Q, Thanks to Mistakes by the wolverines. Coach Grad had to call the rest of the gm from the Press Box as he Broke his Headset after his Def gave up a 96 yrd T.d. to put Iowa up 28-7. Then Michigan got a little closer with a KO ret for a T.D. by Stonum to make it 28-14. then Iowa got another T.d. to make it 35-14 at H/T.

Michigan started the 2nd Half with the Ball and could not move it an inch. as the def forced a 3&O. then Iowa scored on a Fumble by Michigan to make the lead larger, then another fumble returned for a t.d. finally put the 48th pnt on the Board. But Michigan would not go away. Forcier (who threw for 387 yrds and 3 T.D.) found his TE for the score to make it 48-21 at the end of the 3rd Q. The Defense kept making it tough for Iowa, forcing punts on every possession in the 4th Q. Then Using his Spread Attack Deep Pass in the 4th, Michigan crawled back to cut the lead on a Forcier to Stokes T.D. Then Using No Huddle on the Next Drive Michigan ran it in with smith (who had 2 T.d.'s) to cut it to 48-37 with the 2 pnt Conv. Then Forcier Found Odoms in the Corner of the End Zone to make the Score 48-46. Michigan then went for the onside kick and failed to recover.

    Forcier 387 yrds 3 T.D. no INT
    smith 66 yrds rushing 2 T.D.
    odoms 143 yrds recieving 1 t.d.
    stonum 141 yrds rec
    Koger 55 yrds rec 1 t.d.
    stokes 12 yrds rec 1 t.d.

Florida State keeps their unbeaten conference record as they run by the Maryland Terps 42-24. The Noles jumped out to a 28-7 lead but Maryland must have gotten 1 hell of an inspirational speech at halftime as they stormed back to cut the Noles lead to 28-24 late 3rd qtr. Florida State would respond outscoring the Terps 14-0 in the 4th and really putting the clamps on the Maryland offense. The Noles outrushed the Terps 161-24 on the ground. Florida State runs their conference record to 6-0. Florida State has now clinched a spot in the ACC Conference Championship game which could be a rematch with their hated rival the Miami Hurricanes or a possible date with Gerogia Tech.

In a key Big Ten matchup, Ohio State nipped Penn State 24-21 at the Shoe. The Buckeyes trailed 21-10 at halftime before OSU receiver James Jackson scored twice, one for 73 yards, in the third quarter to give Ohio State a 24-21 lead into the fourth quarter. Both teams missed field goals on their first drives of the last stanza before Penn State moved the ball deep into Ohio State territory with a little over a minute left. Ohio State sealed the win when Buckeye linebacker Omar Johnson picked off a Kevin Newsome pass, allowing OSU to run out the clock.

    Great game 9's

#3 Florida Beats Kentucky 16-0, Jeffrey Demps was running wild but could only get in the EndZone once as The WildCat defense would stiffen up in the Red Zone. The Gators despite Demps 206 yds rushing had to settle for 3 Field goals, the defense played awesome shutting down Kentucky all day.

#1 LSU travels to South Bend and barely holds on to their #1 ranking with a hard fought 19-14 win. Biggest play of the game for the Tigers was a pick 6 by Patrick Peterson on the first drive by Fighting Irish when he cut under the back out in the flat and found nothing but green in front of him. Notre Dame controlled the ball and took a lead in the 4th Quarter at 14-13, but LSU was able to put together a nice drive and pull out the victory.

    Great game played by bcduggan.
