    UNLV Downs #3 TCU

A game that came down to the wire! The Rebels, led by QB Omar Clayton, knock off the undefeated Horned Frogs in Vegas. TCU took the lead back in the 4th quarter, but the run game of UNLV led by CJ Cox and Channing Trotter marched the field to score with 2:44 left. It wouldn't be the end. TCU QB Andy Dalton would mount a charge that was capped off by a 5 yard QB scramble on 4th and 3 to give the Horned Frogs the lead with a minute left. UNLV was being pressured all day by the aggressive TCU defense. Clayton saw an opportunity as his WR Jackson had his man beat, resulting in a 69 yard passing TD to give UNLV the 40-36 lead with 40 seconds left. The Rebel defense would shut down the Horned Frogs final attempt to win the game to secure a monumental upset! UNLV managed 493 total yards of offense, 159 on the ground and forced 2 turnovers, including a critical interception in the 3rd quarter. QB Omar Clayton was the player of the game going 15 of 31 for 334 yards and 3 TDs. HB CJ Cox had 19 rushes for 64 yards and a TD, while partner in crime Channing Trotter had 48 yards and a TD on 6 attempts. Next week the Rebels travel to BYU.

    SHUTOUT..
    Tech goes down hard 23-0

One emotion for this game..ugh. The Bulldogs had three chances inside the redzone and could not even score a point. Tech's kicker missed two FGs and the offense was stopped on a 4th and goal from the one. Meanwhile, the Boise State offense was led by an opening play 70 yard pass to HB Jeremy Avery. Avery caught the ball and made two guys miss in the open field to take it to the house. Boise up 7-0, and that would be the only offensive touchdown for the Broncos. Up 10-0 with less than 4:00 to go in the first half, Boise kicks off to the Bulldogs. Once again, Tech's young return man Goodman fumbles the ball away and Boise takes it in for the score. 17-0 at the half. The second half was a huge defensive battle that saw the Broncos lose QB Kellen Moore for two weeks. The hit came on a rollout play, and Moore had no chance to escape it. Boise added two late FGs, and won the game 23-0. At least the defense was decent.

(sorry no pic...EA doesn't take very good pictures)

    Week 9

    Nevada 28
    Utah St 17

Nevada took on Utah St in a WAC conference game this week and were able to come away with a tough fought victory.

Utah St jumped on top early in the first on a 21 yard touchdown strike from TJ Canales to Eric Moats. Later in the first, Vai Taua evened up the score on a touchdown run from inside the 1 yard line. Taua would score again in the second quarter on a 3 yard run, giving Nevada a 14-7 lead. After a Zach Sudfeld 2 yard touchdown run, the Wolfpack staked claim to a 21-7 lead. Utah St would answer right before halftime on a 41 yard Peter Caldwell field goal, making the haltime score Nevada 21, Utah St 10.

Scoring was halted until the fourth quarter, when Taua scored his 3rd touchdown of the game on a 6 yard run. Robert Turbin would answer for Utah St with a 1 yard scoring run. That is where the scoring would end, with a final score Nevada 28, Utah St 17.

Nevada was led by Colin Kaepernick, who went 9 of 12 for 103 yards, and Vai Taua, who carried 31 times for 209 yards and 3 scores. Utah St was led by TJ Canales, who finished 17 for 40 for 249 yards with a touchdown and an interception, and Robert Turbin, who carried 7 times for 35 yards and a touchdown.

Nevada improves to 5-3 overall with the win, and 2-1 in WAC play. They travel to Idaho next week to take on the Vandals.
