    Week15: Titans(37) @ Texans(31)

    TITANS CLINCH!

Nashville celebrates as the titans return with a wildcard spot in their pocket after big rivalry win against the Houston Texans

The 2011-12 OMFL season came down to this game for both the Titans and the Texans, a win would secure a playoff spot, a loss and the season is pretty much over. The Titans came in on a 5 game win streak and looked to continue it after showing what they could do a couple weeks against the texans. The texans ridiculously tough closing schedule had them trying to limp into the playoffs after some close loses in the past weeks.

Titans won the toss and deferred to the second half. The texans started strong and wasted no time putting the first TD in the game with 15yd pass to TE Casey put the texens up 7. The titans responded well though, as on the next drive they got chunk after chunk on the ground and CJ busted one from 27yds out to tie the game at 7. Matt Schaub came to play and it showed with on time and accurate passes time after time and once again he drove into the titans redzone. This time backup Texans RB middlebrook took the handoff and broke a couple tackles on the way to a 5yd TD to make the score 14-7 in the closing moments of the first quarter.

The titans got the ball to start the second quarter and Coach Ox looked to get Young involved a bit more. Young responded well with some critical 3rd down conversions but good ole reliable CJ got the ball on the 10 yard line and outran the texans defense to the pylons to tie the game again. Schaub again moved the texans well on the next drive, but for the first time stalled in the redzone as the titans defense forced the FG to make the texans lead by 3. After a couple punts by both teams, the titans found themselves at midfield and looked to give Lendel some more carries. On the first play of that drive, White broke a couple tackles up the gut and the big boy outran the texans defense for 52 yards to put the titans up 4 for the first time all game. Both teams had chances to put more points on the board to end the first half, but both failed... Halftime score 21-17 Titans.

Coach Ox must be a good halftime motivator because once again the titans defense came out in the second half and played a ton better than the first. The titans defense kept Schaub, Jones, and Johnson out of the endzone all quarter and turned the texans offense over a couple times. The titans offense added 10 more points to the lead in the third, a FG by Kelm and a 80 yard scamper by CJ to make the score heading to the fourth, 31-17 titans.

The titans once again went to keep the clock running mode and kept the ball on the ground with white/CJ or short passes to TE cook Jr. Not wanting to force anything, the titans were happy to take 2 FGs early in the fourth and add 6 points to the lead. The texans defense finally showed up late, keeping the texans in the game by shutting down the titans offense during the fourth and keeping them from getting first downs... Felix, not wanting to be a home during the playoffs, got a toss from shaub, broke one tackle and went 77yds for the score to make it a 13 point lead for the titans. Things looked down and out for the texans but DJDunn kept plugging away and got the ball back again and once again got another HUGE play from felix jones. He reeled in a brilliant pass from schaub and turned it into another 81yd TD to make the score 37-31 with just over a minute left in the game. The texans failed on the onside attempt and that was all she wrote as the titans sealed a playoff spot with the 37-31 win over the texans

    Player of the Game

    Box stats
    Young- 6-12 112yds
    White- 9rush 73yds 1TD

    Schaub- 17-29 331yds 2TD1INT
    Jones- 13rush 136yds 1TD, 4rec 111yds 1TD
    Middlebrook- 5rush 24yds 1TD, 1rec 13yds
    Johnson- 5rec 73yds

Coach ox said during a post game conference that now full attention moves to the playoffs. He will more than likely rest starters at the half of next weeks game against the ravens. When asked about if CJ will even suit up so the titans MVP will be rested for the playoffs, Coach Ox responded, "He will suit up, i will at least get him the carries to get 41 yards and break the 2000 yard barrier, after that who knows? Depends on what AP rushes for this week and if Coach Mustang rests his colts in prep for the playoffs. If i could grab the first wildcard spot from stang, it would make a playoff run a little easier."

LOL GG dunn,Your my boy but loved writing this writeup. I hate to be the one to knock you out of playoff contention but CJ wasnt taking "maybe next year" for an answer. Your a great player and will be a force in 11, GL in the world cup tourney and GL in 11.

Chris Johnson is making his push for both the rushing title and AFC MVP. Once not even close to contending, after posting the stats from the huge texan win, CJ is up almost 200 on AP and CJ is hoping to seal the deal this week.

The titans have relied heavily on CJ during the teams current 6 game win streak. CJ hopes when the voters vote on awards that they relize that CJ has posted 1015 yards in those 6 games with an average of 170 per game. Drop the game where CJ got injured early and only posted 2 yards, it averages to 202yds/game!!!! Just remember that voters(y)

LOL, it begins, now that we are close to the end of the season and getting ready for the awards, owners will start campaigning for their players. Lol
