    WEEK 1

New season new hope. Everyone thinks that this is their year. Only one team can claim that however. Will it be one of these two teams? Maybe. Matt Stafford will stake claim to being oen of the best passers in the game. The connection between him and Calvin Johnson is one of the top 3 in the game. Jay Cutler hopes to build that same kind of connection with Kellen Winslow Jr. In this game, he sort of does. Cutler finds Winslow for 130 yards and a score, but a late controversial Calvin Johnson TD seals the win for the Lions.

The Broncos are on their 3rd owner in a little over a season and half. A lot has been said in the offseason about this mediocre division. A little too much by a division that hasn't produced much in playoff victories. But this is a new season and everyone feels they have a shot. This is the year that Jamarcus Austin and Demarayius Thomas break out and puts the AFC on alert. This duo will produce 2 scores and over 150 yards. However, the Chargers are no slouch as they have shifted their offensive strategy to become a pass heavy offense. Rivers and Gates return with the rest of the potent offense. Offense hasn't been the problem though. It's the defense. So far so good as the defense holds off a late Bronco rally to hold on to the victory.

A classic AFC North battle between hated enemies. The Browns took a huge step last year advancing to the divisional round of the playoffs. The Steelers were feeling their way through last year trying to gain an identity. I think they found it last year and should be able to apply it this year. It's just not going to be evident in week 1. The Browns acquired some aging veterans that should be enough to put them over the top. Immediately Palmer and Houshmandzadeh find a good connection and finish the Steelers late. TJ finishes with 6 receptions for 83 yards and 2 scores. Big Ben has a good day but it's not enough as the once tough Steelers D just can't find their groove.

Much has been made about the Titans acquiring the number 1 overall pick and selecting Tyler Doughtery with the pick. He's a rookie who's looking to make an impact. The Colts are still the team to beat in this division however. The Jag's are just trying to stay competitive. So who wins. Good guess because I don't know. They traded away their best player and drafted a questionable running back who's a slower version of MJD. The one big thing is that they got a better QB and thats the difference as Tyler struggles early in the season. Jags with the upset as Rheams gets his first TD in a low scoring affair.
