Bucs 38 - Saints 21 Josh Freeman's QB rating was a personal best 158%. New Orleans got the ball first and started the game looking like an unstoppable machine on a nice 80yd TD drive that took up most of the 1st quarter. They dominated the first half for the most part and was up 3 -14 late in the 2nd before Darren Sproles fumbled giving the Bucs the ball with good field position. Bucs were able to capitalize with a TD and then the defense was able to hold the Saints to a punt at about the 2 minute mark. Momentum was swinging towards the home team’s way as QB Josh Freeman then connected with Arrelious Benn on a 60 TD catch and run to give Tampa a 17-14 lead at the half. Tampa Bay got the ball in the 2nd half and continued where they left off as they found their rhythm in the passing game and went up 24-14. The Bucs would never relinquish the lead as the Tampa D were able to hold off the Saints and created turnovers in which the offense capitalized on. One of those turnovers came courtesy of CB Aaron Berry who picked off a Brees pass and took it back 83yds for 6. That INT was key as it came when the lead was down to 10 points and the Saints were still within range. From there the Bucs were able to finish the game as both D and O continued to click. Notable Stats Josh Freeman had his best game to date going 12/14 280yds and 3TD’s. This earned him an impressive 158% QB rating. Legarette Blount didn’t have a record breaking performance or anything (17rushes 97yds), but he ran the ball very well in the second half and did just enough to help keep the Saints always dangerous offense off the field. Arrelious Benn had just 2 catches but that was enough to get him 119yds and 2 TD’s. Good game Rob.
