Week One @ San Francisco 49ers

    Loss 17 - 21
The Vikes traveled out to Santa Clara to take on the Niners in the second game of the MNF doubleheader. The game also marked the return of Adrian Peterson who was in the backfield with franchise QB Teddy Bridgewater for the first time. AD led all rushers with 67 yards and scored a TD. Teddy racked up an impressive 334 yards passing on 57 percent passing but his five interceptions marred an otherwise strong showing by both the offense and defense. TE Kyle Rudolph caught six passes from Teddy for 105 yards while newly acquired WR Mike Wallace just fell short of the century mark catching five balls for 99 yards. Jarius Wright started opposite Wallace and caught a TD pass from Teddy to go with the 82 receiving yards.
The defense stood their ground managing to force three turnovers on INTs from Colin Kaepernick and grounding the Niner rushing attack to the tone of 58 yards. But the constant short fields and sudden change situations wore them down a the game was closing. All 21 of the Niners points came in the second half of the game, including an 80 yard screen play TD reception to Reggie Bush.
Next week the team opens its last season at TCF Bank Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota against the Detroit Lions in early NFC North play.

    In other news:
    • LT Jake Long signed with the team on a one year deal. Long, the former number one overall pick, decided to join the team for the opportunity to start and block for one of the greatest backs in NFL history.
    • New owner Prince Rogers Nelson announced that the teams new stadium will be completed by the start of the 2016 preseason. Look for additional updates as progress is made.

    Week Two vs Detroit Lions

    Win 23 - 20
The Vikings returned home the Twin Cities after a disappointing effort in week One on MNF in front of a national audience. The fans at TCF Stadium on the campus of the University of Minnesota were undeterred as they had been waiting for a year to see Adrian Peterson toting the rock for the Vikes. The future Hall of Famer did not disappoint with a spectacular showing of 232 yards rushing on 32 carries with a rushing score. Peterson told the media that he was happy to be back in purple and ready to put this team on his back when the team needed him to do so. A strong defensive show complemented the rushing as forced two turnovers, including a forced fumble on a kickoff in the last minute of the first half. Teddy Bridgewater found Charles Johnson in the endzone to give Minny the 17 - 7 lead at the half. Detroit closed closed the lead down to three in the fourth quarter but Peterson proved to be the deciding factor as his workhouse effort controlled the clock to the tune of almost six additional minutes of possession for the Vikings.

Week Three vs San Diego Chargers
    Loss 26 - 7
After an impressive showing on the ground against division rival Detroit, Minnesota is unable to replicate any offensive continuity against San Diego. In fact the coaching staff admitted after the game that it abandoned the run too quickly as Bridgewater's struggles this season continued for the third straight week. This meant repeatedly putting its defense back out onto the field with little rest. The Chargers took advantage as rookie running phenom Melvin Gordon had 13 carries for 165 yards and a score.

    Week four at Denver Broncos
    Loss 26 - 7
Mile High Stadium elevation proved to be too much for Minnesota as the Vikings lose their third game of the 2015 campaign. Teddy seemed to be more in sync with his receivers in the game but the team struggled to convert longer drives into scores. Peterson ran for 58 yards on 25 carries and was visibly frustrated. The team has a lot to work on going into an early week five bye week.

Coming out of the bye week the coaching staff and front office re-committed to develop its young players. Players need PT in order to develop and gain experience so the team made two pretty big moves:

    1. Trade CB Captain Munnerlyn to Jacksonville for a 5th round pick in next spring's draft. Captain played well but Coach Zimmer felt rookie Trae Waynes and third year pro Josh Robinson deserved more playing time. Both have potential and will need to prove their HC right.
    2. Trade WR Mike Wallace to New England for DE Jabal Sheard. Wallace is a veteran who played well leading the team in receiving in the early going but with Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright showing they can handle the starting positions he was expendable. Plus the team needs to figure out what it has in youngsters Cordarrell Patterson and rookies Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

Week Six vs Kansas City Chiefs
    Win 27 - 13
Teddy Bridgewater threw for 205 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions while AD ran for 105 yards and caught three passes for 91 yards with a receiving TD. Backup Jerick McKinnon scored a touchdown on one of his nine carries that tallied 40 yards. Defensively rookie Eric Kendricks had 15 tackles, including eleven solo stops. Anthony Barr has 1.5 sacks while everson Griffen and Zach Moore had a sack a piece.

    Week Seven @ Detroit Lions
    Loss 30 - 37
Offensively the Vikes could not get anything going as Bridgewater had two TD passes but threw two interceptions. Jarius Wright and Cordarelle Patterson caught a touchdown each. AD was bogged down by the inconsistent blocking of the oline.

    Week Eight @ Chicago Bears
    Loss
    34 - 10
Teddy B had 295 yards passing with a touchdown and an interception. AD had another struggle running the ball in this game. Being behind most of the contest was beneficial for the receivers as Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright had strong games with 73 and 84 yards respectively. Johnson got into the endzone. Jabaal Sheard added his second sack as a Viking.

Week Nine vs St Louis Rams
    Win 29 - 17
AD bounced back after two subpar performances with 136 yards rushing and a touchdown. Bridgewater threw a touchdown to each of his tight ends, Mycole Pruitt and Rhett Ellison. Jabaal Sheard and Sharrif Floyd both added sacks while Xavier Rhodes and Robert Blanton picked off Nick Foles.

    Week Ten @ Oakland Raiders
    Loss 34 - 10
Another poor & inconsistent offensive effort punctuated the Vikings trip out to the Bay. Bridgewater threw three interceptions. AD provided his best efforts on each of his 18 caries as he had 142 yards rushing and a touchdown. Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 89 yards. Defensively only CB Trae Waynes had a stat line worth typing as he had a sack and a fumble recovery.

Week Eleven vs Green Bay Packers
    Win 41 - 14
Teddy Bridgewater threw two touchdowns in the game to Charles Johnson. AD had another AD type of day with 154 yards on 27 carries with two touchdowns. Johnson had five catches for 94 yards. The defense was not able to get to Rodgers but they picked him off four times including a pick six by rookie Eric Kendricks.

    Week Twelve @ Atlanta Falcons
Minnesota traveled down to the ATL to battle the Falcons. This game was very balanced for both teams throughout the contest. Teddy Bridgewater battled Matt Ryan in a game that resulted in a 24 all tie. Teddy completed 43% of his passes for 267 yards a couple TDs and an Int. AD rushed the ball for 101 yards on 26 carried with a scoring run. Falcons rookie Tevin Coleman scored twice and had 137 yards on 32 carries. TE Mycole Pruitt caught four passes for 95 yards and a score while Kyle Rudolph also caught a TD with two receptions for 53 yards. Everson Griffen and Jabal Sheard each had a sack.

    Week Thirteen vs Seattle Seahawks
In a measuring stick game for the Vikes, the two time NFC Champion Seahawks came to the Twin Cities. Minnesota battled Seattle for the full sixty minutes in a very even contest. The Vikes coaching staff shuffled somethings around coming into the game as excellent second year linebacker Anthony Barr moved inside with rookie Eric Kendricks lining up outside opposite Gerald Hodges. Also Everson Griffen and Jabal Sheard swapped sides at the defensive end positions. The changes made a sudden impact as Barr added 8 tackles and a sack with Kendricks adding 7 tackles. Griffen has a sack in the game as Minnesota never really let Russell Wilson and the Hawks settle into a rhythm keeping the Seattle rushing attack to 83 yards. Meanwhile AD was held by that stingy Seattle defense to 65 yards on 17 carries. Teddy looked to have found a new target in the passing game with three catches for sixty yards, but Diggs broke his wrist diving for a pass late in the third quarter to end his season. Kyle rudolph caught Teddy's lone TD pass.

    Week Fourteen @ Arizona Cardinals
AD continued his workhorse status carrying the rock 29 times for 118 rushing yards to pace his team on the road. But the big plays for Minnesota were provided by WR Jarius Wright as he had 4 catches for 127 yards and two TDs.

    Week Fifteen vs Chicago Bears
After getting manhandled earlier in the season at Chicago the Vikings welcomed the bears to the Twin Cities. After being a complete nonfactor in the earlier matchup, AD went into his own version of beast mode as he carried the ball 35 times for 209 yards. Recently promoted to starting status, TE Mycole PRuitt hauled in 8 passes for 107 yards and a couple scores. Sharif Floyd and Jabal Sheard had a sack apiece. While Anthony Barr intercepted Nick Fales twice in the first half while Harrison Smith, Josh Robinson and Gerald Hodges added an INT.

Week Sixteen vs New York Giants
In probably the most complete game of the season, the Vikings said a final goodbye to TCF Stadium in fine fashion. The defense forced six turnovers while only giving up the ball once offensively. Teddy finished with an 87.1 QBR and two TDs with 232 passing yards. AD carried the ball 23 times for 130 yards and a score. Also scoring a rushing TD was teddy on an option keeper. Mycole Pruitt again found the endzone in this game and finished with 69 yards receiving on three catches. Jarius Wright added another score. Anthony Barr recorded ten tackles in the game. The defense struggled to slow Rashad Jennings early on but Barr and company found their footing. As NY resorted to throwing the ball more dowfield the secondary and linebackers took advantage as Harrison Smith and Trae Waynes both picked off Eli twice in the game while Xavier Rhodes and Robert Blanton both added one a piece.

    Week Seventeen @ Green Bay
Minnesota looked to keep its three game wining streak going and finish the season at .500. The Packers had other plans as they jumped out to quick lead and never looked back. Teddy had a solid game with 218 yards passing and two touchdowns. AD almost closed out his superb season with another 100 yard season with 95 yards rushing on 20 carries.

    2016 Regular Season
    Week One (18 - 27 Loss)
The Vikes hosted the defending NFC North Champion Bears to kickoff the 2016 campaign. Chicago QB David Fales was efficient in his running of the Bear offense to the tune of 339 yards and three touchdowns. For Minnesota Teddy threw for 292 yards but had two interceptions with one touchdown throw. AD ran the ball 12 times for 101 yards and a score. Rookie wideout Jerron Banks tried to match second year Chicago speedster Kevin White, going got 97 yards on two receptions with a score against White's 90 yards and a touchdown. Chicago proved too much down the stretch and pulled out the 27 - 18 victory and first game in the beautiful new Minnesota stadium.

    Week Two (21 - 27 Loss)
Drew Brees and the Saints came to the Twin Cities in week two. AD paced the Vikes with 110 rushing yards on 18 carries. But the game came down to a dual between the veteran Brees and youngster Bridgewater. Drew's stat line was 17/29 for 301 an INT and three touchdowns while Teddy went 25/42 for 336 yards three scores and two INTs. unfortunately for Minnesota the turnover proved to be the difference as they lose 27 - 21. Rookie Jerron Banks continued his solid career start as he caught three passes for 72 yards and a touchdown.

    Week Three (31 - 15 Win)

In the rematch of the week one meeting, AD carried the load with 24 carries and 116 yards with a touchdown. Teddy had his first no turnover game with two touchdown passes, one each to Stefon Diggs and
Cordarrelle Patterson. Jarius Wright added 106 receiving yards on six receptions. Xavier Rhodes and Josh Robinson intercepted Chicago QBs as Fales was knocked from the game and Jay Cutler finished the game.

    Week Four (23 - 13 Win)
Minnesota traveled down to Jacksonville to take on the Jags. Minnesota pulled out a ten point ugly win, 23-13. Teddy had a rushing touchdown to go with a throwing score. AD had 82 rushing yards. Jerron Banks had 7 receptions for 69 yards. The Vikings defense effective stymied the Jags offense as they changed from the ineffective Bortles and went to Kaepernick.

    Week Five (38 - 31 Win)
Minnesota looked to make a statement against the Super Bowl Champion Eagles in Philly. Teddy was 25 for 32 with 368 yards and an INT as he battled Geno Smith who threw for 411 yards and three scores of his own. But Smith's two interceptions on key drives provided to be the difference as Minnesota edged the SB champs by 7. CB Bill Bentley took over at Nickel for the injured Josh Robinson and picked off Smith for defensive TD.

    Week Six (13 - 31 Loss)
Any thoughts that Teddy was not the franchise QB for the Vikes were quickly squashed as he was knocked out of the game by a rabid Texans pass rush. Before going out Teddy was solid with 10 / 13 and 132 yards with a touchdown throw to Jerron Banks. With no offense to be found the Vikings were dead in the water and the defense was unable to stop the big plays of Sam Bradford and the Texans.

    Week Seven (31 - 20 Win)
Rival Green Bay came to town for the first matchup this season. Teddy found his big playmaking TE Mycole Pruitt three times on the afternoon including a 72 yard catch and run touchdown. Pruitt finished with 106 yards. Teddy had another touchdown throw to Jarius Wright. AD toted the rock 21 times for 80 yards and a score.

    Week Eight (BYE)

    Week Nine (24 - 20 @ Detroit)
Minnesota traveled to Detroit to take on the Lions. Teddy had 141 yards passing and two touchdown throws to Jarius Wright. AD ran the ball for 177 yards on 17 carries and a score.

    Week Ten (31 - 3 Win @ GB)

Teddy was perfect going 12 for 12 with 228 yards and three touchdowns on the day. AD carried the ball 18 times for 117 yards but was kept out of the endzone. The Vikes did not need him to score as Xavier Rhodes picked off Rodgers twice. Pruitt scored on the Packers again with three receptions for 57 yards but the story of the day was Jarius Wright's five catches for 91 yards and three scores.

Week Eleven (28 - 35 Loss vs Washington)
After two weeks on the road, Minnesota returned home and it was not pretty as they quickly got behind after Teddy threw three first half interceptions. They tried to make a comeback coming up short 28 - 35. Teddy found Cordarrelle Patterson for a 57 yard touchdown reception. Rookie Duncan Hamilton was aided by a strong rushing performance to control the game.

    Week Twelve ( 3 - 13 Loss @ San Fran)
In another game played without Teddy for the vast majority of the day, the Vikings efforts were derailed by five EJ Manuel interceptions. The lone bright spot for Minnesota was Stefon Diggs and the 106 yards on six catches. Trae Waynes intercepted Brett Hundley twice.

Week Thirteen (24 - 30 Loss vs Dallas)
Minnesota came strong and at one point had a 21 - 0 first half lead but could not close out the game as Dallas came storming back behind a strong effort by Mike Glennon, who took over at the half for Romo. AD carried the rock 21 times for 110 yards and a score. Mycole Pruitt added five
receptions for 111 yards. But glennon went 8/9 for 123 yards and a TD stole the show. Prior to that Minnesota had picked off Romo four times.

    Week Fourteen (25 - 45 vs Tennessee)
Marcus Mariota was superb throwing for 262 yards and four scores as the Titans dominated the Vikes at home. Teddy tried to lead Minnesota to a comeback but came up short. Teddy threw two touchdowns and an interception with 295 passing yards. Pruitt hauled in nine passes from Teddy including two scores while Jerron Banks had 111 yards on five catches.

    Week Fifteen (28 - 20 vs Colts)
Teddy completed 20 of 32 passes for 258 yards with a score and an interception. AD ran the ball for only 45 yards on 21 carries but managed to get into the endzone twice. Patterson returned a kickoff for 100 yards. Andrew Luck almost led the Colts back with 352 yards and two touchdowns.

    Week Sixteen (37 - 15 @ Giants)
In a complete lack of anything positive, Vikings traveled to NJ to take on the Giants and met a buzzsaw in blue. The Giants were
dominant on the ground as Rashad Jennings led the way with 110 yards and rookie Gordon Collins and vet Chris Johnson each added 45.

    Week Seventeen (42 - 32 vs Lions)
In a win and in scenario, Minnesota finished the regular season against NFC North foe Detroit in Minnesota. Teddy was solid with 284 yards and three touchdowns and an interception. AD proved his value as the number one player in Vikings history going for 130 yards rushing on 23 carries and a touchdown. Pruitt added 8 catches for 125 yards and touchdown while rookie Banks caught two passes, both touchdowns. Jerod Mayo forced and recovered his own fumble to go with an interception in the endzone. Minnesota clinches the NFC North and a home playoff game.

The Vikings came into the offseason needing to gain depth and improve their roster just like many other teams across the TMFL, yesterday they executed a trade with the future in mind. Team owner Prince signed off on a trade of RB Jerick McKinnon this years second round pick (53) and next years third round pick for Diablos RB Tre Mason. With AD having one year left on his current deal and try fun 32 in this offseason the team felt it necessary start prepping for an heir apparent. Mason the third year pro out of Auburn found himself stuck behind standout Todd Gurley down in Mexico City, so this deal provides him the opportunity to become the starter by next season at the latest.

Vikings make a pair of moves at trade deadline to try to boost offensive production. In what may be a sign of the desperation to revive a running game that left town with HOFer Adrian Peterson, the Vikings traded two second round draft picks and a future third to the Oakland Raiders for Latavius Murray. This years first round pick Lonnie Franklin has struggled to hit the hole and the team sits at under 600 rushing yards at the midseason mark. The move allows the youngster to sit and watch an accomplished veteran go through the paces.
The second trade found a pair of fourth rounders and a fifth round pick go to San Diego for massive veteran LT King Dunlap. Third year LT Moore will man the RT spot as the team faces another week at least before Teddy returns.

    Vikings 2018 Season Recap

The Vikings finished the 2018 season with a non-losing season. Unfortunately it was also a non-winning one with a 8-8 record and missing the playoffs again. The season started off with a 3-2 record prior to the week six bye week. First round selection Lonnie Frnaklin was named the starter at HB and had his fair share of struggles as the team could not get the passing game going consistently as franchise signal caller Teddy Bridgewater went down in week four and was sidelined for six weeks. The teams offense floundered during the stretch with AJ Taylor in at QB, the team went 2-4. Once he came back Teddy had a difficult time regaining his form and shaking the rust off as the team lost another three straight games and sat at 4 - 7 on the season. Week 12 the team traveled to Detroit to battle rival Lions and connected with Jerron Banks on five passes for 129 yards and two scores to pace the team. In the game Arthur Moats added a defensive score. A week fifteen loss to the Cardinals at home proved to be the nail in the playoff coffin depite the teams 5 - 1 record in NFC North play, joining only the Panthers as the only teams to miss the playoffs with only one divisional loss. Bright spots on the season include the emergence of Pro Bowl WR Banks who led the team with 1349 receiving yards and 12 receiving TDs. Defensively the team continued to build with the additions of Henry Melton and Dominique Easley plus second year CB LaMichael Lucas. Despite his early struggles Franklin seemed to find his way after the team traded for former Oakland ball carrier Latavius Murray who was injured in the game against Arizona and finished the season on IR.
