    #22 WVU vs #21 LSU

    - With the Mountaineers taking on the Tigers at home, one would think the Mountaineers would have a bit of an advantage. And if the first half it seemed as though the Mountaineers would be in this game till the end.

Somehow, that message didn't translate to the team in the second half. After trailing 16-17 at half time, the Mountaineers imploded. Geno Smith tossed a pick 6 and the Mountaineers were never able to control the Tiger running attack. LSU did a great job of playing solid defense, controlling the ball, and not turning it over in the 2nd half to win the game, 27-16 over the home standing Mountaineers.

Jordan Jefferson for LSU put on a show passing for over 250 yards and Geno Smith for WVU was rather accurate, but the lack of a WVU running game, made the Mountaineers one dimensional. The Mountaineers should be able to exercise some demons this week as they will take on the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. However, don't look past the nights....they are 4-0.

    WVU vs Rutgers

    - The Mountaineers got back to their winning ways by pulling one out against a very tough Rutgers team on the road. Geno Smith ignited the road warriors with an amazing scramble and found Starks in the corner of the end zone early in the first half to let Rutgers know they were not going down easy.

Later in the second half, a designed option play sent Shawn Alston on a 36yd TD that sealed the game up for West Virgina as they went on to win, 24-17. Alston finally got out of the box by going for over 100 yards and 2 TDs.

Look out Big East, this Rutgers team is for real and QB 1 Savage will light it up if he gets going. West Virgina should find themselves showing back up in the top 25 this week after their road win.
