Western Kentucky puts up a fight, but #9 Nebraska prevails 30-7 Western Kentucky started off their season on the road in Lincoln, Nebraska Saturday night. It was not a pretty night for the Hilltoppers they had 5 turnovers in a 30-7 loss to the Cornhuskers. WKU Quarterback Evans had 5 interceptions in the game. He was constantly under pressure and the Hilltopper offensive line did not hold up. We asked Coach Taylor about his quarterback today and he said this, " Obviously it was a tough game for him but he was facing one of the best defenses in the land. He will be back on the practice field on Monday and be ready for South Florida next Saturday." One bright side for the Hilltoppers was their defense. Nebraska was in Hilltopper territory constantly but 3 times in the red zone Western held them to field goals. Coach Taylor said this," Our defense obviously kept us in the game and we are happy that are defense can hold up. We need them all season especially against these next three opponents." Western has a tough road ahead. Murderer's row for the Hilltoppers as they face South Florida, Indiana, and Kentucky, facing only Indiana at Houchens Stadium. The Hilltoppers face South Florida in Miami on Saturday. It airs on Cbs College Sports. Stay tuned for coverage on the team on the official Hilltoppers sports radio which is 1580 ESPN AM.
