Top 5SH '13: WEEK 3 Alabama comes in ranked #1 and stays that way through 2 weeks of games thus far. Some are starting to doubt whether these guys are the real deal though. A 3 point win in Ann Arbor is great but then you barely beat Western Kentucky by 3? Eddy Lacy is ramblin' for 5.6 yards per carry. If he can keep that up, the Tide will be tough to take down. The experienced Senior from Millbrook, AL AJ McCarron is completing 59.7 % of his passes with 3 TDs and 1 INT. He is 43-72 for 468 yards. The defense has recorded 6 sacks and 2 interceptions so far with 1 forced fumble. USC only has 1 game to show for so far. A whipping of Hawaii. Although Matt Barkley threw for 331 yards he did falter by throwing 2 interceptions. Nothing explosive out of the backfield for the Trojans this year as both RBs that got the most carries are under 90 speed. They do have a Sophomore in George Farmer but he only received 3 carries. Barkley's favorite go-to-guy was Xavier Grimble, a TE who caught 6 passes for 114 yards and scored twice. Are the Trojans on upsert alert traveling to Palo Alto to face the #16 Stanford Cardinal in Week 3? Stay tuned. LSU is kind of hard to judge. They took care of North Texas 38-17 but almost suffered a loss at the hands of the lowly Washington Huskies. LSU is on bye this week as they try to recuperate and get ready for the gauntlet that is the SEC. While they are trying to decide who is going to carry the team at the QB position, they have found out who is going to run with the pigskin. Spencer Ware is beastin' defenses with 43 rushes for 230 yards and 4 touchdowns in 2 games. Michael Ford is right behind him spelling him for 110 yards on 21 carries. Tyrann Mathieu has 2 picks already and Eric Reid has 1. The linebacking crew Lamin Barrow, Tahj Jones and Kevin Minter have combined for 22 tackles, 5 tackles for losses and 2 sacks. Oklahoma got rid of pesky UTEP in Week 1 disposing them by 10 points. Their defense is questionable though by giving up 21 points to such a shitty team. Needless to say, they haven't had much competition in the 1st 2 weeks of this new season. They pitched a shutout against FCS Southeast in week 2. Oklahoma is on by and hoping that Heisman hopeful Landry Jones doesn't cool down. Jones is disgusting so far throwing for 577 yards with 7 touchdowns and 1 interception. The one thing that has surprised many is OU's run game. Could this be the year that OU breaks the reign of the supreme SEC? Roy Finch and Dominique Whaley have combined for 318 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns. A nice complement to Jones' air raid. Minnesota native, Kenny Stills is ballin' his ass off with 216 yards receiving on 9 receptions with 3 touchdowns. The only thing the OU defense can do is record sacks with 5 through 2 games. The SEC wraps up the top 5 with the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia has by far the best 2 wins so far out of the these top 5 teams. Solid, convincing wins. They didn't let their guard down in 1 game like some of the others. They welcomed the newly acquired Missouri Tigers to the SEC and showed them what life is like in the best conference in the nation. Aaron Murray is cleaning house with 350 yards passing and 4 touchdowns with 0 interceptions. No AJ Green? That's fine, insert Michael Bennett and Malcolm Mitchell. This dynamic duo has gained 252 yards receiving with only 2 touchdowns though. Georgia hosts Florida Atlantic and may be looking to jump a spot or two depending on some games.
