I am all for keeping the DH in the NL but no way will it be there by 2026. So thumbs up, lets do this!
This is a poll.. if you are in the NL say "yay" or "nay" So far I'm seeing a lot of "yay"s from NL owners.
Ruining the legend. Think of how great the first NL winner would be without a DH. This year is the final hope.
As Jesse pointed out, there is a ton of data that suggests that this will likely never happen. The mechanics behind the game are skewed.
And most of the teams in the NL flat out suck. The top AL teams > the top NL teams with or without a DH. at this point I don't really care if we do it or not. But the AL is going to continue to beat our ass for a few seasons regardless. The White Sox and the AL East are pretty strong.
Exactly. In the short term its likely to have little affect. Long term though, once the NL can catch up a bit talent wise and get used to carrying a DH type player on their roster, things should start to even out. Its not the reason the NL cant compete with the AL, but it does affect how games in general are played in the NL.
Lol. I can't remember the last time the NL should have won a WS. Maybe the year it was the Yankees vs Brewers.
Eh, I don't agree with that. I think that its a slight edge for the AL to have a DH (both in real life and in game) but the long AL streak is more a function of good luck and the AL generally putting a superior team into the WS. The rules aren't what are preventing the NL from winning the WS.
I would agree with this. The change would be more because of the functions of the game, not because the AL has an advantage over the NL.
Keep in mind.. by not carrying a DH records are skewed in AL ballparks for NL teams. Perhaps add another 3-4 wins per NL team and subtract the same from the AL.
Per NL team? No chance. Each AL team should have 10 home games vs NL teams. 3-4 total games for all 150 combined interleague games at AL parks is probably closer to correct. And there should be a small difference between AL and NL pitchers' ability to hit since NL players would have some level of experience doing it where AL pitchers would not. The total cumulative effect of the DH on interleague win % is small, but it does exist. Its on the order of 2-3% rather than 40% or whatever though.
This is the main reason. In game managers are morons. I've had a pitcher play shortstop for 3 innings.
