The Tennesee Titans managed to hold off the Miami Dolphins after a last second fieldgoal by Rod Bironas pushed them over the top and into the next round on Sunday. The Titans jumped out to an early lead on the first possession of the game after DeAndre Jones caught a 30 yard pass from Tyler Doughterty on a pass that showed how much the youngster quarterback has matured over the course of the season. Dougherty stood tall in the pocket and look the pressure right in the face before throwing a dart over the middle to Jones. Miami would go three and out on their first posession and the Titans would capitalize again when Dougherty made a perfect read on the blitz and lobbed a 55 yard touchdown to the pheenom wideout Kenny Britt to put the deficit for Miami at 14. The Dolphins answered right back with a blitz read of their own when Josh Freeman hit Devone Bess over the middle for a 62 yard scamper to paydirt and cut the lead in half 14-7.

In the second quarter the Titan added a Rod Bironas fieldgoal that was answered right back by a touchdown pass from Freeman to John Carlson. The score was now 17-14 in favor of the Titans. On the Titans next possession Dougherty would miss a wide open receiver (Stuckey) on third down, a play that was sure to be a huge gain and they were forced to punt. The Dolphins came out and tried to get something going as they put Chris Johnson in motion and were going to send him streaking down the sideline but the pressurer got to Freeman and forced lame duck that was intercepted by Kellen Moore. The Titans capitalized on a Ronnie Brown reception and increased their lead to 24-14 at the half.

The 3rd quarter the teams played a little more cautiously as the Dolphins added a fieldgoal from Dan carpenter about halfway through the quarter and the Titans would then extend their lead to 31-17 after Earl Bowman bowled into the endzone from 4 yards out.

The 4th quarter is where the magic started happening for the Dolphins. After being put in a 4th and 9 situation early in the quarter with the ball on about their own 35 yardline coach Miki elected to go for it and made the right choice as Freeman hit Devone Bess over the middle for the 1st down. The Titans would end up scoring on a 2 yard run from Chris Johnson and come within just 7 points of tying it up.

The Dolphins defense made light work of the Titans attempt to move the ball forcing them to punt it back after just 3 plays. Then on a deep pass over the middle Freeman threw it into double coverage, Courtland Finnegan would get a hand on it but through some sort of miracle the ball bounced right into the hands of Brandon Marshall for the catch keeping the drive alive. Chris Johnson broke off a huge touchdown run on a 3rd and three and the game was tied at 34 all with just over 2 minutes remaining. The Titans got the ball back and Ronnie Brown got loose out of the backfield as he hauled in a 24 yard screen pass that was followed by a 26 yard scamper from Earl Bowman putting the Titans in position for Bironas to seal the deal as time expired.

    Great Game Miki!!!
