How many teams have gone Wire to Wire since The Dugout kicked off back in 2012 ? I have NO idea, but from now on we'll keep track each season with this Wire to Wire thread. So far this season we have 3 teams that qualify for going Wire to Wire in 2021. First on our list .... The Royals have kept a slim lead on the AL Central since starting the season off 6-2 by sweeping the Chicago White Sox. Just how are they managing to fend off the likes of DET and MIN who have dominated the division for the past decade ? It certainly isnt because of their starting rotation or top notch defense. Lets take a closer look into Kansas City's 2 months of glory. Well that certainly didnt take long to figure out the keys to KC's success. DH Scotty Clay and 3B Ramon Ocampo have been the backbone of the team by driving in EVERYONE. They are each batting over .350 with RISP and almost all of Kansas City's run production comes from this nasty 1-2 punch. The next candidate for Wire to Wire is ty5oke 's Houston Astros as they are dominating the entire ML with almost 50 wins in the 2nd week of June. He enjoys a 19 game lead and is probably a lock for going wire to wire in 2021. Talk about a bad division, there isnt anyone else above .500 in the West but they call Ken Welsch the tallest of the midgets. I think the AL Central has cleansed that reputation and the West is happy to take the title of worst division in the AL. It isnt hard to tell what makes Houston dominate the way they have. They score runs and stop you from scoring. 411 RS in 2 months is ridiculous and Houston has to be the favorite to represent the AL in the World Series for 2021. Colemanchu and his Dbags enjoy an 8 game lead in June. Despite the fact that they score lots of runs and do just about everything right offensively, Arizona hasn't been able to return to the big stage because of pitching breakdowns in the post season. With a top 3 rotation looking like that, its very likely that Arizona will continue its reign over the NL West and maybe return to the WS. If Moore, Bolden, and Perez can keep it up in the playoffs, they might have a chance vs KC come October.
Are we talking winning it all or leading their division from wire to wire? If only division, your 2019 Brewers are on this list
Nothing about the Hokkaido Fighters or Hiroshima Carp that have gone wire to wire so far in Nippon? Guess I'll have to add that to my list of things to do.
This thread sucks. 1 sim after this opens and already looks like a jynx. KC loses 3.5 games on lead this sim. HOU loses 3 games on lead this sim. ARZ loses 4.5 games on lead this sim.
I'd like to go back and see how long it has been. Can't remember the last time I wasn't leading the division after a sim. Hopefully the Giants stop going 10-0 and we can keep it that way.
Minnesota pitchers are dropping like Cleveland outfielders now. There must be something in the water in the Midwest.
