Typical AFC North Rivalry Ends With Steelers Getting The Best Of Flacco.
How many times have we seen this, the Steelers and Ravens battling it out on a sunday night with the entire nation watching and AFC North bragging rights up for grab. Even though the Ravens seemed unlikely to make the playoffs with the current state of that team, Baltimore named The Rulah as their new head coach looking to bring an edge to the team. Both of these coaches have had experience playing against one another in rivalry games (Other TSO leagues) and this one may have been just as suspenseful as the others. The Steelers came out in this one and looked to be in control for most of the first half. Two long touchdowns, a 60+ yard run by Rashard Mendenhall and a long pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Antonio Brown pushed Pittsburgh to a 21-7 lead. Even with the momentum being with the home crowd the Ravens were able to score a touchdown right before halftime making it 21-14. The Steelers scored on their first possession of the second quarter, but would be unable to find the endzone for the rest of this game. Baltimore's defense led by Ray Lewis stepped up their performance in the second half and held Pittsburgh to only one trip to the redzone the entire half. Baltimore would score again, but the typical defensive battle that we are used to seeing from these two teams came out. Joe Flacco who seemed to struggle with a few throws throughout the game eventually cracked under pressure and threw 2 interceptions in the late minutes of the 4th quarter, including an interception to Ike Taylor while Baltimore was in the redzone. Flacco fell short and so did the Ravens 28-21, but the Ravens now have someone to lead them in the right direction. Watch for Baltimore to stir things up in the AFC later this season.
The Steelers defense really got to Joe Flacco this Sunday.
Colts 37 Bills 34
This game in Indy had it all , from the opening kickoff it was a go! As Bills running back C.j Spiller
Took it to the house for 6 . Both teams turned the ball over in the first half making for a somewhat sloppy
Game. The second half is where it got interesting. The Colts found themselves in a hole down 27-14 , and
Looking like they were gonna drop 2 games in a row after last weeks heartbreaker vs New England.
Colts received the ball to start the half. Indianapolis was driving until they hit a roadblock and faced a
Third and long at mid-field, Andrew Luck who look poised the rest of the day wasn't so on this play
He rolled the pocket finding extra time then lofted a ball down field for grabs and the Bills got to it first.
But this is where the confusion of the (2-8) Bills sideline first changed this game.
A misunderstanding with the refs gave the ball back to Indy! The Colts were able to Score later on in
The drive on a 18 yard reception from Steve Slaton.
Indianapolis was then able to force a few punts from the Bills offense which gave Colts punt returner T.Y Hilton
A chance to do some damage returning a punt for a touchdown. Making the score 31 - 27 Indy.
The Colts would stop the Bills offense one more time with 5:20 left in the fourth. Bills were able to
Hold Indy to a field goal at the 2 minute point putting the Colts up 7. After a first down and 3
sacks later the Bills found them selves with no chance a 4th and long inside their 10 yard line with
Time running out. Then it happen! A deep ball down the sideline to Stevie Johnson for 91 yards was
Brought down at the 5 if time running out Tarvaris Jackson found his man Donald Jones for his 2nd time in the
Endzone. Score was a knotted up at 34 with 10 seconds left. This is when things got weird for the Bills
And confusion was at another level as the Bills lined up for an onside. Indy was also
Confused at the risky play call. Indianapolis would recover the ball and had 9 seconds with
The ball at mid field when Andrew Luck was able to find his top target on the day Ramses Barden.
The rest was history as he's done so many times in his career Adam Vinatieri kicked it threw the uprights
For the W.
FINAL: Indy 37 Bills 34
Player of The Game: Ramses Barden
Monday night football has brought you great match-ups all season long, and this one was no different. The Philadelphia Eagles and the Carolina Panthers went at it this Monday and provided a stellar hard-hitting, slobber-knocking, send the kids to bed early type of ball game. Michael Vick and Cam Newton proved once again that they are two of the most athletic QB's in the history of the NFL. But they also proved their passing inefficiencies outweighed their running and scrambling abilities. Both QB's were able to keep their teams in the game with their legs, but it was the passing that decided this game.
After Carolina won the coin toss and decided to kick, the Eagles would have their most successful drive of the game. An 80-yard, 13 play performance highlighted by the running ability of LeSean McCoy would allow the Eagles to score a touchdown and take the early 7-0 lead. The Carolina Panthers would answer with 2 field goals, one from 60 yards out that nicked the left field-goal upright and bounced in. When the Eagles were forced to punt from the 50 with 1:07 left in the first half many thought we would go into the half with the score 7-6. Carolina and Cam Newton had other plans, with all 3 timeouts and the ball at their own 20 they felt they had the ability and time to score on another play. Brandon Boykin the rookie CB from Georgia would haul in a poorly thrown ball from Newton and would return it 46 yards to the house for the 14-6 lead. Newton would throw another 2 picks on the day.
The Eagles would tack on another 9 points (touchdown, blocked xp, and FG) in the 4th quarter and would give us our final margin of 23-9 Eagles. Game ball goes to Michael Vick, who didn't have a monster performance but was efficient and played smart to lead his team to the victory. Vick went 10-19 throwing for 122 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTS. He also had 6 rushes for 74 yards.
TITANS GET FIRST WIN UNDER NEW COACH SHANE VARNO
This was a Player vs CPU game Going into week 12 Titans would have there first game under freshly hired Coach Varno, In the days leading into the game Coach Varno wanted to get a feel to his team to see what they are capable of. He said "We know were not gonna be in the post-season but i still want this team 2 fight for wins there playing for there jobs i want 2 see winners on the field and were gonna see who responds in the next 6 games." Well they did just that the team came together and got a team win on Sunday, Beating the Jags 34-14. After the game in the post game Press Conference Coach Varno was asked on how he felt his team did this week and he said, "Well starting with Locker i felt he lead this team well at points in the game i feel he could have been more accurate with the football he threw to the right targets but needs 2 be more accurate and show me hes not gonna make the same mistakes in games. I though Johnson did very well probably his best game of the year, our offense moved the ball well and our defense didn't give up any big plays but were far from perfect, There's still a few tweaks that need 2 be done." Players of the game:RB Chris Johnson 17 carries, 204 yards, 2 TD'SCB Jason McCourty 1 tackle, 1 Interception for a TD
Dolphins bring home the win over the Seattle Seahawks
The Miami Dolphins got off to a rough start in this one. Tannehill throwing two early picks, it was looking grim for the Dolphins. Coach Winkler was able to settle his rookie QB down and go back to work. Sure enough Tannehill was able to come back strong finishing the game with 237 yards and 3 touchdowns. Reggie Bush was able to complement him by working 132 yards on the ground. Miami's defense had a huge role, only giving up 141 yards total and causing two picks. Miami finished the game 31-14 and moving to 8-3. The look forward to their matchup against division rival New England Patriots. Cameron Wake completed his goal to break the all time sack record. He was able to record his 23rd sack against the Seahawks in just 12 weeks. Coach Winkler thinks he can finish with 30 by the end of the season. We will just have to wait and see.
"Mr. Rogers Could not Handle the Giants Defense"
The Packers came into Met Life Stadium riding a 3 game win streak. The Giants knew that if they were going to end Green Bay's streak, they would have to play Aaron Rogers, and come up with a great game plan. The Giants did just that. The Giants used their most diverse play calling, by mixing more blitz packages in with their zone and man coverage. As a result, Aaron rogers could not get comfortable all day, especially with OLB Michael Boley.
Boley put in the best performance of the season, with 5 tackes, 3 INTs, and a sack. Aaron Rogers was just 13/24 for 193 yards 0 TDs and 4 INTs
The Giants offense did enough by getting back to the basics, running the ball. Ahmad Bradshaw had 21 carries for 106 yards.
Player of the game 5 Tackles, 3 INTs, 1 Sack
