17 - 14 Week 1 set the tone for the NFC East fairly well. All 4 teams battled each other as the Giants and Eagles came out victorious. Throughout the year this division has proven to be the toughest one out there boasting the highest percentage of wins for a division. Here we are in week 12 and it has found itself knee deep in playoffs implications as both the Giants and Cowboys come in tied for 2nd in the East with a 7-3 record. Metlife stadium was saddled up and looking for the sweep. The Giants took the rock first and on its first play from scrimmage it gave a small taste of what today would be like. On a PA fake, Eli had WR Barden wide open 20yds down field and hit him square in the chest...dropping the ball. That kind of set up where this game was headed. The Giants would eventually punt and send the ball over to Romo and Co. They would stall and get the ball back to the Giants as Eli threw 1 of 2 Ints on the day to Sean Lee setting up the Boys with great field position. The first play Romo hit HB Dunbar up the gut with a jump ball in the endzone that he miraculously grabbed. 7 - 0 Boys. Eli would get things going as he would hit Cruz on a long pass of 68yds to tie it right back up. Without hesitation the Cowboys came marching back as Romo utilized severals players on a long methodical drive that would eventually be capped off by a Murray run to put the Boys back up 14 - 7. From this point on the game was in the hands of the man himself....MR. TURNOVER. The Giants on the day would force 7 TO's that in the end would be the proven factor of the game. Late in the first half the Boys stopped the Giants and forced them to punt. Weatherford looked for the coffin kick inside the 10 and a fluke miscue resulted in a fumble and recovery by CB Hosley to set up the Giants for the tie. HB Wilson would punch it in to tie it up going into the half. The Boys had great pressure all day and there LB's played out of there asses keeping the Giants run game in check. Eli was flustered throughout, but maintained his composure. The second half was just a defensive shootout...when you thought the Cowboys would score, the Giants would force a TO. When the Giants got the rock...RE Ware and DT Hatcher disrupted the Giants O. In the end, it was the Giants D that showed to be the difference. Early in the 4th the Giants had 4th and inches on the Cowboys 33 and chose to go for it. The Cowboys came hard and stopped HB Brown for a change of downs. Keeping the game tied, the Cowboys had all the momentum. They put together a nice little posession of pounding the rock downfield. It seemed that the Giants were playing a conservative soft coverage. But once in the Giants territory the Boys tried to get slick and pass... LB Geno Hayes jumped in front the seam route and picked Romo off for the 5th time on the day. With less than 3 mins left the Giants connected on a key 3rd down and Eli would eventually hit WR Randle on a huge pass of 43yds to set up the Giants in FG range to take the lead and eventually the win. GG Moe. Wild one for sure. Best of luck.
