WK 15: Chargers (24) at Patriots (42) Patriots Clinch Home Field In Playoffs Despite The Loss Of Moss. Foxboro, MA Gillette was rocking for its last home game of the regular season vs. the San Diego Chargers. Patriots started out the gates fast on offense after the defense forced a 3 and out of the Chargers. Gore would take a Brady hand-off off tackle for a 64 yard TD run to start the scoring, later that quarter Taylor would trot in from 3 yards out for a commanding (14-0) lead. Chargers would respond fast after taking the Patriots best punches as Tomlinson would score on a 2 yard pass and a fumble on a Brady sack by Phillips was returned for a TD and the game was tied just like that at (14-14). Chargers keeping momentum gave Brady fits as the Patriots could not muster any more offense Chargers defense would finished with 3 interceptions. Ground game was working for the Chargers and the air attack was starting to catch fire as well. Tomlinson would add 10 more yards to his 133 yards on the day with a score to give the Chargers the lead (14-21). Brady was then seen getting in the offenses ear on the sideline and letting them have it. He then drove the offense back downfield after connection on a couple deep routes to set up a 6 yard TD run by Gore and back to a tie game (21-21) at the half. Second half Brady wanted to strike fast and that he did connecting with Elderman on a 58 yards TD pass to switch momentum back to the Patriots. The Patriots defense was also ready to respond to giving up 21 first half points as they held the Chargers to just 3 in the second half. The offense however never stop moving as Brady threw his 2nd TD of the game to Randy Moss on an in and up behind the safety (35-24). More defense in the 4th as the Patriots held firm which allowed time for a F.Taylor 59 yard TD run his second of the day to put the game away and secure home field throughout the playoffs. (42-24). Key Note: Moss was injured in the 4th quarter and left with a broken collarbone he will be out for the rest of the season. He finishes the season with 37 catches for 1202 yards and 18 Touchdowns. After the game Gaddy said the Brady and Gore will not play the last two games of the season in a effort to keep 2 pieces of the Big 3 intact for the playoffs. The absence of Moss will require other receivers like Slater, Phelps, Lucious to step up and play a major role if the Patriots are to continue there winning ways.
