Wk 2: Florida 41 - UNC 20 Florida gets a big OOC victory in Chapel Hill as they down the Tar Heels 41-20. The Gator defense came up huge in this game forcing 8 turnovers including 6 interceptions. Early in the game the Gator offense was going well, but a fumble by RB Curtis Little killed their opening drive. The Tar Heels proceded to score off that drive with a 14 yard TD pass by Michael Robertson to RB Patrick Hoffman . The Gators answered with 2 TDs to go up 14-7. In the second quarter the teams tightened up on defense as only FGs were scored until the end of the half when UNC RB Hoffman ran in an 8 yard TD putting the score at the half 20-17. On the opening kickoff of the 2nd half Hoffman was popped and fumbled the ball and the Gators ran it in for the TD. The Gator defense then put the clamps on the UNC offense the rest of the game only allowing a FG and forcing 4-5 turnovers in the half. Florida QB David Stewart was sharp in the game despite intense pressure by the Tar Hell defense. He managed to go 20/28 for 271 yards and 2 TD in the midst of being sacked 8 times. WRs Craig Brooks and Ryan Jackson had good games receiving combining for 14 receptions for 211 yards and 2 TD. On defense the leader was SS Justin Bowen who racked up 9 tackles and 2 INT as well as a fumble recovery. OLB Greg Floyd also had an impact on the game with his 6 tackles and 2 sacks. The Gators can now enjoy the upcoming bye week as they will be preparing for rival Tennessee in Week 4.
