Wk. 6 Saints 45 VS Packers 24 ENGLISH DOES IT ALL ON OFF DAY FOR SAINTS DEFENSEGreen Bay, WI - Savage Mason Reporting Week 6 was here and the Saints season is rolling right along. After a huge win against the rival Falcons the Saints came into GB with high hopes. Problem was most of the OMFL's top teams had fallen this week, and the Saints didn't want to add to that list. The Saints (5-1) faced off against an old foe in the Packers (1-4) in a pivotal game for both teams. Packers are trying to get their season back on track and the Saints are trying to keep their season on track and not have an emotional let down after a tough game last week. Packers and Saints would both start off super hot in this game. Saints received the ball first and would march right down the field in a typical Saints drive using both the run and the pass to eat up clock and yards. Saints 2 headed monster in Keller and Jacobs seems to have finally found their footing. Will the Saints have a 1000 yard rusher again this year? Probably not, but they will have one of the better rushing teams in the league and a team that can eat up clock. Keller would punch the Saints first drive in from 3 yards out for a early 7-0 Saints lead. Packers really would have a great game plan though and start off really hot by attacking the Saints usually strong LB corps and secondary. Packers would top their drive off on a huge 49 yard td pass to Jennings who simply just blew past every Saints defender on the field. It was like the Saints were stuck in the mud and Jennings just out ran everyone. 7-7 tie. Saints would begin another drive but this one ended quickly. English would have a wide open slot TE on a crossing route, but LB Hawk would make an amazing, flash out of no where, leaping grab for an INT. Packers would make it count on the very next play as RB Chapman would be untouched as the Packers would have a dog pile of blockers in front of Chapman. Chapman rode the pile and then broke outside for the long 53 yard td which left the Saints stunned and confused. 14-7 Packers. This is where English would take over the game as Coach Nate simply put the ball in his hands. English and Henderson, up to this point, were really hooking up for some huge plays and the Saints wanted to take advantage of that. Saints would drive down to the 6 where the Packers on 3rd down would play a zone and leave the middle wide open. English would run it in for the quick score to tie the game at 14 a piece. After a 3 and out, the Saints would drive again but this time it would stall out and Hartley would settle for a 30+ yard fg to take the lead. 17-14 Saints. The Packers would use some very bad timed time outs and the Saints would be able to get the ball back with under 40 seconds left. On a 3rd down English would find Blansit on a long td pass where the SS would accidently be selected and would run away. Easy pitch and catch td. 24-14 going into half time. The opening kickoff would be fumbled after half time by the Packers, and the Saints would make them pay. This time after getting the ball to the 1 the Packers, on 3rd down again, would play another zone on a playaction. English would make them pay again as the middle just opened right up for his 2nd rushing td of the day. 31-14 Saints. Packers would drive and hit a very long 52 yard fg, which would have been good from 62 yards, to close that lead to 31-17 Saints. Saints would try and put the game away on their next drive. Jacobs would rumble in from 2 yards out to make it 38-17 Saints. Packers wouldn't let it go though and would score on a huge 75 yard td pass to Trammell to make it 38-24 Saints. New Orleans QB English would come right back, this time finding WR Jackson for Jackson's first td on a 15 yard pass play. 45-24 Saints. New Orleans would kneel the ball in the redzone one last time to end the game. Stats on the game: HIGHLIGHT VIDEO: http://www.easports.com/media/play/highlight-reel/20466271 Huge win for the Saints after watching the opening of this game and the whispers of the other big boys who had fallen. Packers really played well and fought hard in this game, but the Saints weapons were just too much. Player of the game: QB JACK ENGLISH 19 of 25, 343 yards, 2 passing tds and 2 rushing tds. Not a bad day for the former #1 overall pick of the OMFL draft. English is on a roll and has his offense putting up sick nasty numbers. With the rushing game of Keller and Jacobs the team is able to eat up the clock and not many other combinations are as good as English to Henderson. Great game Packers. It's always a pleasure playing Jethro. Good guy who is sim style player that the OMFL is built on.
