Defense provides cake while Brady adds the icing as Patriots hold back Dolphins for win.

    Foxboro, MA

Mayo after intercepting a Henne pass late in the 4th.

The (0-1) Miami Dolphins and Coach Trude would make his debut at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro against the (1-0) New England Patriots. Scoring would start early as Henne would drop back looking to throw across the middle but was picked off by Bodden to set the Patriots deep in Dolphins territory. After a couple of Brady strikes Gore would finish of the drive with a 7 yard TD run for his first score of the season to put the Patriots up (7-0). Dolphins would come back with a nice long drive that would stall in Patriot territory and would have to settle for a field goal (7-3). Both defense was stingy but the Dolphins look like they had the Patriots offense under control forcing a lot of the Patriots possessions to end in punts but the Dolphins could only capitalize with 3 more points bringing them within 1 pt (7-6). On a 3rd and long Brady would connect with Elderman across the middle who would take it 76 yards for another Patriot score to make it (14-6) Patriots. Dolphins added another field goal before the half closed to make it (14-9) as they seem like they could possibly kick their way back into the game.

With a new half comes a new attitude as the Dolphins began to get confident in the 3rd after some critical stops of the Patriots offense, then later Henne would connect with P.Bible who would scamper out of a Bodden tackle to take the pass 49 yards for a score. Dolphins would make yet another stop of the Patriots offense and drive again eating clock but would then stall in the redzone and have to settle for a field goal as they took the lead (14-19) in the 4th. Brady was seen looking as photos from the last series and used what he saw to move the offense down the field. Timely throws by Brady to his receivers would move the ball downfield as the Patriots would score on a Brady TD pass to Bradley from 3 yards out to give the Patriots back the led (20-19). Dolphins feeling confident on there last couple possessions knew they could drive, take some time off the clock and get the last score of the game. Henne would drop back and look across the middle again for his TE but Mayo would step in for his first pick of the year to give the ball back to Brady and the Patriots offense. After moving the offense closer to the endzone Brady would look to Moss on a fade route who was jammed good at the line so he threw it short so Moss could make the grab which he did on a 12 yard TD pass to secure the win. Dolphins would drive again and get inside the redzone to try to bring them close but a tough 4 down series by the Patriots defense ended the Dolphins hopes as the Patriots would get the ball back on downs to run out the clock.

gg man. 4 picks will not equate to a victory. neither will first and goal from the 3 holding call on the would be tying score under 2 minutes left. hopefully i cant start to turn things around next week against the packers.
