Wooo Pig Soooie - Arkansas Game Summaries Arkansas Opens the Season with a 28 to 25 Victory Over Middle Tennessee State University The Razorback offense came out and ran a very methodical game plan as they would lean on Senior Tailback Michael Smith who carried the ball 30 times for a total of 166 yards and 2 tds. Smith lost control of the ball and gave away a possession early in the second quarter, but rebounded well to put up solid numbers out of the Arkansas backfield. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Mallett showed that he does not have any rust to his game despite sitting out this past season after transferring from Michigan as he compiled 199 yards going 10 of 17 with one touchdown and no picks. It was a good thing Arkansas controlled the game on the ground because they had no answer for the Raiders passing attack as MTSU Quarterback D. Dasler would compile 423 yards going 41 of 55 through the air for 3 tds. Arkansas looked to have the game well in hand as they were up 28 to 15 late in the fourth quarter but a quick fg followed by an onside kick and quick td cut the lead to three but MTSU was unable to pull off the miracle comeback as their second onside kick was recoverd by the Hogs and they escaped the late heroics to start the season 1-0. The Hogs will have to look to practice during the bye week to find a suitable package to give the corners some much needed help over the top.
