World Sportscar Championship Series - All Wednesdays in August

    World Sportscar Championship
    [IMG]

This series is loosely based on the World Sportscar Championship series of the mid to late 60's and early 70's. The most famous car from that era is the Ford GT40, even if it wasn't always the most successful, it had flashes of brilliance at the right time (and on the right track). We will recreate some of this fun by running cars from the era and matching them up, trying to make them competitive against each other. This is just for fun, so keep that in mind at all times.

    Prizes:

No... Well, I have noticed people just want to race for the most part. A prize worthy of fighting for is not something I can provide, and the guys most likely to win typically say they don't need it.

I will be gifting a tuned car to people that show good sportsmanship and race consistently throughout.

Racers: I want a balanced list where there is competition for everybody. And people who will show. There are only 8 spots. Please post if you're interested and/or confirm that you can make it

Spots are being held for the following people:

    JMS
    Casino
    Hellisan
    Del
    SNG
JTolley (need to check that he will make it; he didn't make it Wednesday despite saying he is free Wednesdays)
    Bondzai
    Basis

I'm also taking other people as alternates and/or if people can't make it.

Allowed Cars: Only two of any car are allowed on the grid. So please call yours out.

    Racing Rules

*Know the idea of lines - There are infinite lines, but there is an idea of a racing line and a blocking line. If you are running the racing line (best time) stick to it. If you are running a blocking line (hugging the inside of a corner tyipcally) then stick to it. In other words if you run the inside of the corner and somebody tries to pass you wide, stay on the inside edge of the corner... Make room for the two of you to race.

*Blocking on a straight - Blocking on a straight is picking the best angle for approaching the next corner in a blocking angle and placing your car on that side of the straight. YOU DO NOT SWERVE to block an opponent at any time. You also do not place your car in the middle of the track, unless the other person will not catch you before the turn. If they aren't going to catch you before the turn, you may place your car anywhere on the track. This is a racing line :)

*Don't run into people. This might seem obvious but do your best to avoid it. If it's an accident, it's just that. An accident. Forgive and forget. I know you guys know how to drive, these are all just reminders.

    Race setup

Reverse order of Driver level, staggered starts in every race based on race length.

Ill race that 20 million dollar Ferrari GTO. Please Helli dont wast your time if you need credits. I have plenty and would be glad to give you some. You are one of the main reason we have racing in Tradition.

I will set my car up this weekend. I have to find a way to get it to stick!!

I'll take the '71 Corvette Stingray. Helli you say you have one -- can I buy it from you, or should I just buy it from the "game"?

I appreciate that, Jay! I've bought a couple extra cars in the "mid range" just in case and one GT40 as well. I'll be happy to donate them to anybody who will drive them in the race. They are also upgraded to 665 but not tuned.

I can help anybody with tuning that needs it, just speak to me.

Basis, you can do either if you like. I didn't buy them to "sell" to people I bought them to gift over to people who might not have the time to accrue credits and buy one.

I'll check my balance at some point this weekend. If you really WANT to gift it to me, thats fine... :D

I probably have plenty of credits from the RS200 series though. Not sure.

PS: Great idea for a fun series! Looking forward to it!

Hmm I just took a look at that car and I think it might have trouble competing. If the 67 Stingray is superior as a car (and I'm pretty sure it is) I might drop this one from the list. I'll happily send it over but I'm 2 seconds behind what I've done in the other cars.

    *All times on Laguna Seca

    1:25.350 = 665 Ferrari P4330 - No tire width upgrade
    1:25.279 = 665 1967 Miura
1:25.624 = 665 Ford GT40 with Race Transmission and no Tire Width Upgrades

The 71 Stingray was in the mid 1:27 range as a 665 car. And hard to control.

obviously, haven't tested all the other cars.

Rules on paints: You don't have to use any official number. I prefer guys using era replicas etc that look like race cars but I won't put any official requirement on this.

That's exactly what I'm looking for.

And please either use the existing wheels that come on the car, or use wheels that look old fashioned or like the old wheels etc.... No volks on a 67 sports car!

Ok... So we will know more about this series and the cars in it after we run some races this upcoming Wednesday.

However, we were thinking of something like this:

    GT40
    P4330
    Lamborghini
    Shelby Daytona - All S Class 665

The remaining Cars to be lower, like A600 or something. Or maybe even S Class 625.

They are easier to build to that level, some of them struggle to 665

Then we'd break the drivers up according to an overall rank, something like

    Helli
    Del
    dcauto
    Basis
    Casino
    JMS
    SNG
    Bondzai

(not a final breakdown but you get it..) and then Have The 1 and 8, 2 and 7, 3 and 6.... and each driver pairing will decide what they want to run etc. One in each class. We would launch by PI rating with a staggered start, and all that good stuff. So there would be racing to be had but I'd expect the A class to compete with their own and the S Class to compete with their own. Lots of passing.

A win in A class would be equal to a win in S Class in terms of points.

    Thougths?

Consider the Ferrari Dino 246, easy to control and quite fast.

It will be an S Class 610 Car.

see the original post, I have some other cars I've purchased... Such as a GT40. I think Del is running one and that would leave one more....

That's why I bought 'em, I know not everybody has credits lying around... (y)

Hey so who is showing up for this?

Change of plans.... Just tune to 665 and see how you do. I've come to realize the thought that we might have 8 guys show up for 4 weeks straight is a fucking acid trip so I'd rather just have everybody on a level playing field.

If you don't think the car will be good at 665 go ahead and use another car.

Cars I think will be good:

    Both Ferraris
    Lambo
    GT40
    P4 330
    Shelby Daytona

sorry for all the back and forth on this I just don't want to make the assumption that we'll have 8 people each week that would be silly.

    See you tonight!
