So my very ancient xbox looks to be breaking down. Tuesday I had trouble with it, I would turn it on and get no signal after it had worked earlier that morning. I think it may be my cable since there are no red lights on the box, still no go. So I try it with the standard prongs (no hd ones, YRW), still nothing, switch the cords out and still nothing.

I take it into the living room to try with another tv, and I get sound when hooked up HD AV, but scrolling pink lines, same for both sets of cables. Also sound and no picture when tried standard AV. Just got off the phone with xbox tech support and they say it sounds like a shot video card, and I am way out of warranty so they can repair it and give me a 1 yr warranty for 99.99, catch is it will be at least 2 weeks to get it back if I do it today.

First off have any of you ever encountered this and if so were you able to fix it?

Secondly, with new xbox's being 199.99 (wifi capable, hdmi capabe, etc.) I'm thinking of picking one up but are there any specials or sites you know that are selling them at a discount new? Thanks in advance guys.

Just buy the cheapest available XBox Arcade and put your old hard drive on it. That's what I did. and get the warranty :)

That wi-fi capability kinda gives me a chub I'm not gonna lie. I don't really need it but for some reason I feel the newest model won't croak anytime soon (hell it took almost 6 years for this one to croak).

The new 'S' model is far superior to the old one. I would use a wired connection over the WiFi, but it is overall smaller, quieter and better functioning.

What do you think about this Shaun
. Seems simple enough, doesn't seem like theres too much I could screw up and 4GB is small.

They didn't have any at the closest one, and the one about 30 miles one way only had the old white ones for 139. I like gamestops price and would have probably picked up the 250GB for $250 if they had it, but their little 30 day warranty then your shit outta luck deal kinda worries me. I picked up a new 4GB at Kmart just for the 1 yr warranty.
