    Golden Eagles play lights out
    [IMG]

HATTIESBURG (AP) -- Southern Miss was able to control the ball on offense and preserve the shut out on defense. The story of the game was the Golden Eagles defense who played absolutely possessed. It was tough sledding for the Bulldogs as everything seemed to go against them in this one. Dropped balls, missed tackles, blown assignments, and missed blocks were a plenty.

    -Stats that Matter-

    So Miss TOP: 19:56
    L Tech TOP: 08:04

    So Miss Offensive Yards: 319
    L Tech Offensive Yards: 68

    -Player of the Game-

    SR QB Austin Davis: 12 of 15 for 160 + 2 scores // 9 rushes for 37 yards

good game OnIowa good luck the rest of the way!

Arkansas State falls in week 2 to Illinois. The turnover bug still seems to be plaguing the Red Wolves and no offense could ever really get going. Final score in Jonesboro Illinois 42 Arkansas State 21.

FT. COLLINS--The first win of the new era of football at Colorado State comes in the Mountain West opener. The Rams dominated New Mexico, jumping out to a 38-3 lead before the starters were removed from the game. After an absolutely horrific week one appearance, the Colorado State defense stepped up, allowing just 136 yards of total offense. Sophomore running back Chris Nwoke led the charge for the Rams, carrying 22 times for 195 yards, including touchdown runs of 54 and a beautiful 62 yard run. Quarterback Pete Thomas took a huge step backwards, completing just 30% of his passes. Colorado State will look to Thomas to carry the load when it hosts Central Michigan next week.

Sophomore Chris Nwoke (Right) is beginning to distance himself in the
two-headed running back battle after rushing for 195 yards in a 38-10 win vs. UNM.

Trojans Fall at Clemson 27-24 in OT

Troy traveled to Clemson South Carolina looking for redemption from last weeks melt down against Ole Miss. Things did not start well for the Trojans as they fell behind 21-0 due to Troy inability to stop the Tigers passing game and throwing a pick 6. The Trojans finally showed some life when they sting the Tiger defense on a 33 yard screen pass for a TD. The Trojans ended the half after and interception which they converted into a FG. In the 3rd qtr the Trojans grabbed the lead on the strength of 2 Corey Robinson TD passes, but the Tigers tied the game with 3 minutes remaining with a 36 yard FG. The Trojans were short on a 58 yard FG as time expired sending the game into OT. In OT the Trojans self destructed as they could not pick up a first down and missed a 38 yard FG wide right opening the door for the Tigers to escape with a win. The Tigers picked up a 1st down before booting thru a 30 yard FG and escaped with a 27-24 win.

    Idaho 35
    Bowling Green 7

The first win in the Coach Maij era in Moscow was a dominate effort by the Vandals. Bowling Green had no answer in the Kibbie Dome losing 35-7. Led by OLB Robert Siavii, the Vandals would register 5 sacks and return a fumble 98 yards for a score while holding the eagles to just 7 points. QB Brian Reader had the best game of his career throwing for 250yds and 3 scores while the Vandals offense would stay balance rushing for over 100 yards on 35 carries. Idaho continues to look for improvement when it host the Air Force Academy next week in Moscow.

    Idaho Game Stats
    B. Reader 19-30 250yds 3tds
    P. McCarthy 22car 77yds
    J. Hernandez 3rec 96yds 2tds
    R. Siavii 5tckls 3scks 1FF

The Owls were manhandled in every aspect, the talent, speed, and power of the Gators couldn't be matched.

The game started off very defensive as both teams defenses were playing lights out and no points were scored in the first quarter. The second quarter would decide the game as Tulane started the scoring with a 16 yard TD to Joe Kemp who beat single coverage to score and take the lead 7-0. The lead did not last long because on 3rd down Lindley hits Nicholas over the middle and he took it to the house from 73 yds out to tie the game. Tulane was trying to get something started on their next drive but was picked off and then SDSU took the short field and put up another TD. Once again the Tulane came back out and threw another pick but this one was taking to the house for 6 by Josh Wade. After the back to back picks Tulane would settle down and put together nice drive and put 7 on the board with a pass out of the backfield to their RB. With 55 seconds left SDSU would complete a pass over the middle to Hillman who scampered 39 yards with it giving us and chance to score before half which we did with a beautiful touch pass to TE Escobar. We scored again at the beginning of the second half giving us a 21 point lead and play conservative the rest of way.
