vs 14 - 21 Falcons Win a Defensive Battle to Even Record at 2-2 The Falcons returned home from Boise and welcomed the Wyoming Cowboys to Colorado Springs and were looking to build off last weeks win. The Falcons and Cowboys treated the fans to a good ole fashion defensive slug-fest that that featured alot of ball control offense. The Cowboys struck first taking the opening kickoff and driving the length of the field that used up over 4 minutes of the 1st Qtr. After a 3 and out from the Falcons the Cowboys started and another drive that was finally ended midway in the 2nd Qtr when the Falcons forced a punt. The Falcons tied the game at 7-7 with 17 seconds left in the half on a 24 yard TD pass. In the 3rd Qtr the defense's continued to control the game but the Falcons were able to finally establish the run game and took the lead 14-7 late in the 3rd on a 10 yard TD pass. But the Cowboys answered right back and tied the game at 14-14 on a 1 yard TD run with 4:35 left in the game. The Falcons came back and retook the lead 21-14 with 1:02 to play when the scored on another 10 yard TD pass. The Cowboys answer ended when the Falcons picked off a pass deep in Air Force territory and sealed the win and allowed Air Force to even their record at 2-2 on the year. Great Game capp34 as usual
Rebels Shock The Terrapins 17 @ 20 Las Vegas, NV - UNLV welcomed the 3-0 Maryland Terrapins to Sam Boyd Stadium this week in a game that most experts had picked to be a Maryland blowout victory. After all, UNLV had already been destroyed by Minnesota and Arizona but managed to squeak by a weak Central Michigan team. Early on, that's exactly how it looked too. Maryland had a 10-0 lead after the 1st quarter and were unstoppable. That's when the Rebels showed their resolve and took on the Mutant Turtles. UNLV would run off 17 unanswered points in the 2nd quarter alone to lead 17-10 at halftime. QB Nick Sherry was having his way with their defense. Then came the 2nd half when it turned into a defensive battle. Maryland would tie the game to make it 17-17 in the 3rd quarter, but once again, UNLV would find a way. The Rebels would kick a FG as time expired for the 2nd straight week to win the game 20-17.
JUST ENOUGHNevada starts strong, holds on in a 41-38 Shootout against Hawaii What a game! Nevada and Hawaii went punch for punch, and in the championship rounds the Wolf Pack held on to squeek out a big win at home against a very tough Hawaii squad. Nevada came out with a few nice drives on offense and impressive defense, forcing 2 interceptions in the first quarter and eventually taking a 17-0 lead. Hawaii came running back with 21 points of their own, and at halftime it was 24-21 Nevada. Second half was even crazier. After Nevada went 3 and out to start the second half, Hawaii put a nice drive together. However, that drive stalled at the 1-yard line as the Nevada defense held strong, forcing Hawaii to kick a game-tying field goal. With the score 24-24, Nevada and Hawaii traded 2 more touchdowns each. With just under 3 minutes left, Nevada put together a nice drive to get into field goal position, including a crucial 4th and 1 to get just within range. Hawaii iced the kicker, but that didn't matter. Wolf Pack Kicker Colin Ditsworth hit a booming 52-yarder with 6 seconds left to take the lead. After a squib kick, Hawaii took over from their 20 with just enough time for a Hail Mary. Sophomore Defense End Lenny Jones had other ideas, sacking Hawaii QB Taylor Graham to win the game. WHAT A WAY TO START CONFERENCE PLAY, GL REST OF SEASON fordtuff504 (like you need it). Well played sir.
loving this gameplay, he who turns the ball over will lose, as it should be, gl on the season!
Utah State takes down Old Dominion with ease 41-17 Utah State is growing a reputation in it's first year in the MWC. QB Chuckie Keeton is throwing up monster stats in this league and holding his own while the rushing attack is finding multiple holes up the middle. It's not just the main running back it's all of them that can find holes and burst through them. This game was purely dominated by Utah State from the very start. The only thing working for Old Dominion was it's rushing attack and they did that well but were forced to abandon it as they were down very quick. Keeton would throw for 300+ before he limped off the field. At first it looked minor but the training staff informed us after the game that he would be out for 3 weeks. It's a blow to the team and will have to work with backups until Keeton can get back on the field. For now backup Manning got the reps. He looked solid on his first drive but followed it with some shaky throws on the following drives. Practice this week will consist of who can throw the ball the best at this point. With the number 2 receiver already out for the season losing the QB for 3 weeks is going to hurt even worse.
Rams get schlacked by Bama 3-34 The game started strong for the Rams as they were able to make a couple nice plays on the first drive. However, it stalled out and they had to punt. It would be all Bama from here on out. Yeldon would take the next play 80 yards for a score. On the next offensive play the Rams would throw a pick six. This was less of a football game and more of a cat toying with a mouse. Alabama was superior in every facet of the game.
