Two teams at the top of their division. 6-1 combined record. A Top 25 team. This one was a no brainer. All eyes will be on the QBs as both teams have gunslingers were aren't afraid to beat you with their arms. However, the game changer could be the running game and Utah State will have the edge here. If the defenses don't show up this one could be a back and forth score fest.

This week Utah State traveled to San Jose State without their star and leader Chuckie Keeton. To replace Keeton came a redshirt freshman named Jeff Manning. He came in and looked sharp and clean on the first possession while being a little rattled. Utah State would rally together a first drive FG that they were okay with. San Jose's first possession was the exact same thing, they would push it right down the field but settle with a FG. Early in the 2nd is when Manning would hook up with Reynolds as he found him wide open in the endzone for a 20 yard TD. But of course David Fales wouldn't let Utah State get too far ahead and with 31 secs left he would hook up with Nunn on a 4 yard TD. Everything looked to be settled going into half but Manning would rally his team together in the huddle and call his play and it resulted in a beautiful pass right in Van Leeuwen's hands and he would be off to the races and score as the clock hit 0 to go into the locker room up 17-10.
The 2nd half saw far less scoring and actually nothing came up until late in the 3rd when Manning, who was facing a big down, would hook up with Bird and watch Bird sprint to the endzone pushing off some tackles. Bird would go 61 yards for the score. San Jose would push it down to score at the 5 min mark to make it a 7 point game. From then on it was Utah States rushing attack that took over with 4-6 yard chunks at at time.
David Fales still put up good numbers but could possibly be the reason they lost this game. 2 big interceptions in the redzone lead Utah State to a 24-17 victory.
    Jeff Manning - 12/15 309 yards 3 TDs 1 int
    David Fales - 20/26 275 yards 1 TD 2 Ints

NEVADA, AIR FORCE BATTLE ON THE MOON, WOLF PACK FINISHES ON TOP 24-20
    [IMG]
Game ran great in the first quarter, then got laggy as all get out the last three. Coach Guy Wilson and Air Force had a great gameplan coming in, controlling the ball and putting together LONG, SLOW, STEADY drives. Wolf Pack started hot with a 17-7 lead, but found themselves down 20-17 with 2 minutes left in their own territory. Redshirt Freshman Chris Soloman had another spectacular game in the absence of starting half back Don Jackson, and he paced the final drive by run after run after run for solid yardage. With 17 seconds left on the clock, Nevada decided to not settle for a game-tying field goal and Cody Fajardo aired it out to senior Tight End Kolby Ardense for a13-yard touchdown strike. It was a crucial drive in a very frustrating, and eye-opening game against tenacious Air Force. The frustration mounted early with two touchdown returns taken back on bogus clipping calls, and a fumble that was highly questionable going in Air Force's favor. Somehow Nevada found a way to win this one in front of the home crowd.
    Coach MG after the Game:
"We really lost our composure during this game, and it showed. We were upset with how the game was going after our nice start, and Air Force really shoved it down our throat. We felt pretty helpless. Thankfully, the leadership in the huddle on that final drive calmed everyone down and they realized if they got their heads on straight, we still had a chance to salvage this game. I am proud of that drive, but very disappointed in most other aspects of the game. Air Force and uagrad90 really came to play and outplayed us a large portion of this game, they look to be a really solid up and coming team. In the end, the turnovers we forced early in the game and the final drive won it for us, but we really need to improve in all aspects. Not satisfied at all with this one."
Lag fest after the first quarter, both sides suffered on that end. Good luck rest of season Guy, I snuck one by you on this one.

The Cowboys fight off pesky Texas State. We were moving the ball fairly easily in first half on the ground and in the air. But something happened at halftime and the second half was horrible. If it wasn't for the defense we might have a different type of recap. We literally had to hold on in the final seconds to secure the victory. Once they got the no huddle rolling and their QB hot it was tough sledding but we pulled it out and we are looking forward to our conference game New Mexico.

    What a game to forget!!!

absolutely no fireworks, the two defenses really looked way better than they actually are because of how poorly both offenses performed, this was a winless win for the both of us, back to the drawing board i guess, gg tbishop82
