Its a rivalry that dates back to 1900 and no love has been lost since its inception. This will be the 4th time Coach CP and Coach UT have met wit the Longhorns still looking for their first win (3-0 OK). Lets dig a little deeper at this years match up...

    #2 Oklahoma 5-0

    Strengths
    • Team Defensive Speed: Led by SR OLB Tony Jefferson and SO FS Joe Robinson, the Sooner's have no lack of athleticism on the defensive side of the ball. Playmakers on defense equals big plays on defense, don't expect all the big plays to come on the offensive side of the ball.
    • Passing Game: JR WRs Trey Franks and Joe Powell are extremely talented, and SO QB Zac Dailey has been very productive as of late. If the Sooner's are down, they are not out. With the quick strike ability of a potent passing attack, the game isn't over till its over!
    Weaknesses
    • Running Game: SR Roy Finch was counted on to carry the entire load on the ground, and he's out for the year. First-year JUCO player Maurice Richardson is now in charge of the ground game but has seen limited success.
    Difference Makers
    • FS Joe Robinson (93 Overall): 34 tackles (18 TLF), 2 FF, 4 Sacks, 1 INT - He was a difference maker right out of high shool and nothing has changed since.
    • QB Zac Dailey (91 Overall): 58/89 passing for 1148 yards, 13 TDs, 7 INT - With the lack of their usually run attack Dailey has been asked to take the load of the offense. Will this been his chance to shine in the national spotlight?

    #4 Texas 5-0

    Strengths
    • Linebackers: With arguably the most athletic linebacking core in recent memory the Longhorns defense will only be successful, if their linebackers are successful. The unit is anchored by MLB Tevin Jackson and if he is making plays early, offenses be ware!
    • Rushing Attack: With the absence of AA QB and 3 year starter, Garrett Gilbert, the Longhorns offense was sent scrambling for an identity early. That is no longer a problem as the rushing game has emerged as of late and looks to pave the road the rest of the way.
    Weaknesses
    • Defensive Secondary: Replacing all but 1 starter in the secondary this year has prove some what costly early in the season. How will the inexperienced and, at times, clumsy, Longhorns secondary hold up to a premier passing attack? Only time will tell...
    Difference Makers
    • Tevin Jackson ( Overall ): 27 tackles (13 TFL), 2 Sacks, 1 INT - Speed, speed, speed. There are not many LB in the league that can cover ground like Jackson. Look for him to be all over the field all game long.
    • QB Derek Newton (93 Overall): 50/95 passing for 721 yards, 5 TDs, 7 INT // 49 rushes for 246, 5 TDs - With a reassurgence of the running game and UT being blessed with an athletic QB, UT is beginning to look a lot like the UT of old with Vince Young at the helm.

In no sense of the word are these two teams strangers. Its been 3 straight appearances for both in the Big XII Championship game, and no love has been lost. This time they meet in the regular season, but the Big XII Championship game will still be on the line...

    #3 Oklahoma 8-0 (4-0)

    Strengths
Team Defense- 13th in Total Yards Allowed, 2nd in Rushing Yards Allowed, and has only given up 89 points all season. Hard to beat the Sooners when you cant score.

    Weaknesses
Rushing Attack- Although it hasn't struggled as much as some would thought, its still middle of the pack in the Big XII. And with more than double of their offensive yards coming through the air, don't expect OU to go to the ground on crucial plays.

    Difference Maker
Kicker Patrick Ohara- There is no body in the NCAA better than Ohara, literally. In over 50 kicks (15fg/35pat) he has yet to miss. If this game is a close one, the Sooner's would be more than happy to put the ball into Ohara's hands.

    #16 Nebraska 6-2 (3-1)

    Strengths
Running Game- 2nd in country in rushing yards (5th overall offense). Look for Nebraska to go to the ground early and often to try and wear down the OU front.

    Weaknesses
Giving up the Big Play- In both of Neb losses this season they were plagued with giving up the momentum changers. In the Ohio State game they gave up passing TDs from 52, 69, and 64 before it was even half time. In the Mizz game it was a pick six early in the 1st quarter. They cant give up the big play if they expect to win this one.

    Difference Maker
RB Dntrayevous Robinson- Nebraska knows what they have in Robinson, a beast. Its not just his rushing yards or touchdowns, the fact that he's only fumbled twice in 190 carries, but even more impressive than that is his abilitly to take a hit and keep going. Almost a 1/3 of his yards have came after contact. Simply put, if you can't stop Robinson, you can't stop Nebraska

    Predicition
OU over Neb on a last second field goal by Ohara
