Highlight's from the Week 5 Troy Game
OU wins their shootout with Texas 38-33. A lot of action in this one, including an interception by Sooner SS Eugene Boss that lead to a safety (BS!). JCA's offense is really coming along and will only get better as he continues to collect Texas talent. While the Sooners need to get better defensively, a pick-6 from true-freshman CB Mr. "Showtime" Talley was the difference.
A lot of OU recruits were in attendance. Hopefully it pays off!
Stanford / USC - 16 - 21 Good guys. Jared Preston left the game 4 times with injury, slow running day.
Great game Ego, the two 4th quarter picks, especially the pick 6 really did us in. Good luck the rest of the way. It was a lot of fun and should be fun playing that rivalry game against you from here on out.
I pulled off some tight throws in this one that could have ended badly, and at least one of your picks ocurred due to an insane CB jump on the ball. I needed all the help I could get.
Our rivalry is going to be a ton of fun ... hopefully my nerves can handle it.
Whoever plays you next better warn their secondary.
Sounds like a good one. Looking at the box score, it looks as though JCA may have had a lead going into the 4th quarter. Yall both put up some points in this one and from playing JCA earlier in the season, I know his offense is tough to stop.
Ego, are you still running the 4-2-5 at OU?
Yeah, Ego is still running his vaunted 4-2-5. You guys did a pretty damn good job stopping our offense, we could only manage 2 field goals. I'm looking forward to seeing the score from your match-up with Funk. Should be a fun one for you guys.
If I remember correctly, Texas went into the half up 19-14. I took the lead (22-19) after a solid opening second half drive/TD/2-point conversion, but the Longhorns struck back quickly. I settled for a FG in the late 3rd or early 4th to make it 26-25, and then two straight Texas turnovers sealed the deal.
I'm still running the 4-2-5, but my personell is better equipped to run the 4-3 right now. I didn't have tremendous initial interest with recruits, but it looks like I might pull off a pretty decent class. My defense should only improve as a result.
Oregon Plays Matador Defense, Loses 35-38 to UCLA...Ole!
QB Kevin Warren of UCLA completed 33 of 44 passes for 4 TD's, none bigger than the winning throw with only 18 seconds to go in the game.
The Ducks trailed 21-24 at the half despite giving up an obscene amount of yardage to the Bruins. Behind the stellar play of Rocky Manning (380 yards passing, 5 TDs vs 2 INTs), Oregon was able to keep the game close. What hurt the offense the most were the drops in key situations, as the WR corp dropped at least 6 catches, mostly on 3rd downs.
Despite their troubles on both sides of the ball, Oregon was able to take a 35-31 lead with just 47 seconds left in the game. Then, as they have all game, the Ducks allowed UCLA to march down the field and rip their hearts out as UCLA scored on a 28 yard TD strike with 18 seconds to go.
With only two timeouts and needing a miracle, the Ducks almost had one, as Rocky Manning hit his WR Kirkpatrick on a short pitch and catch. Amazingly, the ball should have been intercepted, but Kirkpatrick made his man miss and turned up the field....NO ONE WAS AROUND. Then out of nowhere...Kirkpatrick figured it would be a good time to tuck and protect the ball not once, but twice...allowing the defender to catch up and tackle him. The End. (ARGGGH, I couldn't believe my luck that a short 10 yard pass when I needed a hail mary was going to work. My gut instinct when I make a catch is to press the "protect the ball button". Had I not done that, I easily could have gotten to FG range worse case scenario. Oh wow.)
Sounds like a tough loss man. Still alot left to play for though.
Bucks blast Iowa 48-10
Yeah no doubt it was a heart-breaker...but you can't win them all! Should the Oregon administration start giving me lip, I'll just say these weren't my recruits
Notre Dame defeat Boise 27-3 on the Blue Stuff. The Irish are 6-0 heading into a bye and the more difficult half of the schedule behind them.
I bet Notre Dame wins it all this year.
I bet your avatar wins it all this year!
Good thing thing you only have weak teams left...Army, Navy, FIU and USC!!!
Notre Dame is who we thought they were, and WE LET EM OFF THE HOOK!
That's the last big one on the schedule. If Tuco runs the table....
BCS National Championship Baby!
I will prepared.
