tuff game, just what we'd expect from a rival SEC opponent, our defense seemed slow at reacting to the ballcarrier but was able to do just enough to hold the bulldogs off to pull out the win

PROVO, UTAH-- In a statement game for the program, Coach Berta and BYU have made clear the direction of the football program: a devastating air attack and rock-solid defense. BYU displayed several 5 WR sets, compiling 529 total yards. Junior Quarterback Jake Heaps looks to be evolving into the player everyone expected when he was ranked the #1 Overall Quarterback coming out of high school, completing 14 of 23 passes for 371 yards and 4 TDs. Heaps showed great patience and touch, shredding a great UCLA passing defense. Star receivers Ross Apo and Cody Hoffman each accumulated over 100 yards receiving and at least 1 touchdown. Freshman Ray Jackson led the defense with 7 tackles, and cornerback Preston Hadley picked off two passes to stunt a UCLA attack that was potent in the first half. This marks the end of a string of four user games for Coach Berta, as the Cougars will host North Carolina next week. After the game, Coach Berta proclaimed that "BYU's 5 WR is going to be a model for offenses in the future. Our guys are only just starting to figurer it out, and the results will improve each week." As a message to recruits, Berta added, "You know if we want you. If we want you, we need you. Come to Provo. Be part of something special."

Florida State finally put it all together and played 4 quarters of football this week against the Syracuse Orangemen. The offense came out on fire right out of the gates and QB Clint Trickett had his best game of his career, going 15/22 with 300 yards and 4 TD's. HB's Chris Thompson and Devonta Freeman combined for 101 yards and 1 TD. On defense, Bjoern Werner amassed 6 tackles and 1 sack and CB Xavier Rhodes added a pick 6. This win puts the 'Noles record at 2-3 and it looks like the offense might be picking up speed going into the meat of the ACC schedule.

    #6 Michigan roughs up #25 Northwestern 49-10

Northwestern came into the big house and stood no chance. Once michigan figured out that NW couldn't pass the ball with effectiveness, they brought the heat and shut down the east / west run game of the wildcats. On offense, Michigan decided to rest denard for the all important Auburn game. We need him at 100% if were going to overcome the Auburn Tigers and get our first win over coach Fred. The true freshman sanders stepped into the starting role and tore the wildcats up. Sanders finished with 297 yards passing, two passing tds, two rushing tds. Not a bad debut. On defense, our true freshman FS played like a 5th year senior. Lumpkin was all over the field laying kids out, which caused them to drop first down passes. This was a good game to have before auburn, as we've been able to game plan for the tigers for two weeks. We look forward to the challenge!!

#3 Alabama Visit #11 Arkansas in a SEC West Battle

The 3rd ranked Crimson Tide traveled to Fayetteville in week 5 to face the 11th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks in a SEC West battle with the winner getting an early upper hand in the race to Atlanta. After battling to a 7-7 tie midway thru the 1st half the Crimson Tide took the lead on a short FG. A turnover just before the half lead to another Alabama TD and a 17-7 halftime lead. In the 2nd half the Crimson Tide continued to play conservative and rely on its defense as the Crimson Tide was able to get out of Fayetteville with a 27-14 win. Both teams relied on the run game as Knile Davis rushed for 109 yards while Alabama countered with Eddie Lacy who rushed for 148 yards on the day. The two teams played evenly throughout the game with the difference being the 6 Razorback turnovers (4 interceptions & 2 fumbles) which lead to 20 of the Crimson Tide 27 points.

It was a great game by Sabo who also displayed great class when he allowed the Crimson Tide to move the ball out to the 20 yard line when a botched touch back attempt on a kickoff placed the ball at the Alabama 1 yard line. I did not get my player moved in time so I went to take a knee and he dove forward and was downed at the 1 yard line.

The Ducks went on the road for their first Pac 12 game of the season, and handly defeated the Sun Devils of ASU, 48-20. The Ducks have had issues running the ball as of late, so Coach Stewart decided to switch things up and go with a lot of 5 widesets and take advantage of his depth at WR. The Ducks pretty much dominated from the get go, letting ASU score on a couple of misexecuted tackles. Of course the highlights frozel, so you're getting the quick and dirty recap.
