A ho-hum effort from Kent State is just enough to down Bowling Green. For the first time all season the Golden Flash have back to back 100 yard rushing efforts.

MTSU Gets First Win of 2013
MTSU used defense to win its first game of 2013 by a final score of 14-13. MTSU was led on defense by Robert Blount. He had 5 tackles and 1 INT. Backup turned starting QB Timmy Byerly finished an efficient 15-25 for 243 yards to guide the Blue Raiders to victory. Freshman John Dickerson made two great catches, but is still struggling with catching the routine ball. "We were able to run the ball on the first drive and that set up the pass for us. I'm proud of these guys. Our goal is to get to a bowl and we have a shot."

Big Win For UMass over Miami U

    UMass 27, Miami U 24

After a close, disappointing loss to Kent State the previous week, UMass needed a win against Miami U to keep its Bowl Game dreams alive. That looked dim when starting QB Kellen Pagel went down in the 1st quarter with a minor injury but was unable to return to the game. Coach E made a surprising decision, pulling the Redshirt off QB Michael Thomas and throwing him into his first game in a big position. Thomas filled the void, going 6/10 for 112 yards and 1 TD along with carrying the ball 4 times for 83 yards. The evident star of the game was CB Kirk Nelms who had 2 interceptions for touchdowns of 88 and 92 yards. The game ended with a 22 yard winning field goal, keeping UMass's dreams alive.
