Minnesota 2013 Season Preview
Last year, the Gophers broke in a barrage of first-time starters. While there were some obvious growing pains -- the unit finished eighth and ninth, respectively in the conference in total and scoring defense -- there was also some growth as the season progressed. To help growth continue, Head Coach Jerry Kill hired Coach Maij formerly the DC at Iowa State as the Gopher DC. Entering 2013, eight starters are back in the fold, and that continuity could pay big dividends as the Gophers transition to Coach Maij’s 4-2-5 defense. The headliner is senior strong safety James Manuel who paced the squad last year with 75 stops, including 9.5 for loss. Manuel should see an increased in production with Coach Maij’s safety focused defense. He'll be helped up front by returning backers Jephete Matilus and Mike Henry alongside weakside safety (Ace) Vernon Sampson to form what should be a formidable 2nd level.Up front, the defensive line returns starting book ends Matt Garin and A.J. Hairston along with tackles Eric Jacques and Sean Ferguson who both showed up at fall camp with more muscle topping the scales over 300 pounds, prepared for the block eater role in the new Gopher defense.Things aren't as clear-cut in the secondary, where new starters would be found at both corners and free for the Gophers. Brock Vereen and Chase Haviland both make their debuts on defense after paying dues on Special Teams, both saw time last year as backups, sophmore free safety Jospeh Adkins is now eligible after a horrendous spring, Adkins has turned heads during the fall coming into camp focused, and in shape and outplayed junior Tyrone Bouie all camp to nab the job. Opponents will likely try and test the unproven UM secondary early and often. Overall look for Coach Maij’s influence to take it toll soon on the Gopher Defense, Coach Maij is known for being very aggressive, with his defenses finishing in the Top 15 in total sacks the past 2 years at Iowa State and Idaho respectively.
Florida Atlantic Owls
The Owls look to rebound in Coach Boiler's thrid year at the helm, in year 1 the Owls had a winning record and made it to a bowl game losing in a simmed game against CMU. In year two the Owls lost a couple of heart breakers that cost them a chance at a winning record, and they were not able to capitalize on the momentum generated by the prior year's winning record.
On offense the Owls lose three key playmakers in Kooi their starting QB, the past two season, Williams their starting TE who was a key receiving threat, and Hankerson who made key plays at the WR position. The Owls will not make any changes to their offensive scheme this year, they'll turn over the offense to JR(RS) Hutson Mason who will see is first action in an Owl uniform. In terms of a ground game the Owls will once again place a heavy load on Jarvis Giles Soph(RS) (who was injury prone last year), and they'll look for contributions from Julius Cartwright. The Owls are a little thin at the WR position, they do return DeAndre Richardson SR(RS) who is now poised to improve on a breakout season from a year ago both as a WR and a returner, SR Marcus Cunningham also looks to establish himself as playmaker this year, after serving as primarily a 3rd down player a year ago.
On defense the Owls welcome in a key junior college linebacker, who is highly regarded, Charles Newsome(JR), he's wrapped up the starting MLB spot and looks to anchor a young defensive unit. The key to the Owls defense is to get pressure on the QB and let the secondary and LBs make plays on the ball. This years defensive line will rely heavily on DE Cory Henry(SR), and Andrew Stryffeler(SR), and DT's David Baptiste(SR), and Karl James(Jr Rs.).
The Owls schedule looks to be tough with anticipated games against in state teams, as well as the underated Sunbelt which features powerhouses, Troy, North Texas, Ark State, and ULM. Needless to say it's going to take a lot of hard work by the coaching staff and the players to get bowl eligible this year and compete for the Sun Belt Conference Title.
2013-2014 Louisiana-Monroe Warhawk Football
In a bit of a shocker, Coach E, after 2 WAC Titles with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs has been hired as the Offensive Coordinator of in-state competitor Louisiana Monroe. "I thought I would take my chances with exploring other options, a few things fell through and this is where I ended up. It was like a carousel ride ) While many would look at this as a demotion, Coach E is taking it in a different perspective. "I get to work with new guys, and hopefully show them what it's like to win a conference title and get to a bowl game, those are our goals for this season."
Offensively, it is no question as to who this offense will be based around. Senior playmaker quarterback Kolton Browning will undoubtedly see a lot of touches on the ground as well as through the air. With a strong receiving core, and a solid running game, the Warhawks could burst onto the scene with one of the most potent offenses in the NCAA.
Defensively, Coach E has been heard mumbling "I just hope those guys give us enough chances to win some games, because we can put points on the board in a hurry."
It will definitely be an interesting year in Monroe, Louisiana with a talented coach heading a talented offense, in an unfamiliar situation.
Central Michigan comes off of BACK-TO-BACK Mac Championships, however, we've lost our best defensive players, our outstanding quarterback, and lost a great WR. This year were starting a lot of freshman. I really think were going to struggle to win the mac championship this season. I hope we can get a three peat, but i'm not counting on it. Returning we have our 97 SPD RB Jenkins. He's going to get a LOT of reps. We've also got three freshman WRs that are looking to make an impact if someone can get them the ball. We'll play bend but don't break on D, and try to get our quick RB in space. Overall, I'm going to have to pull out some stops to get some W's this year. Luckily, I'm in the MAC, and the competition isn't that great. Best team I faced last year in the conference was Miami, a B-.

Trojans Looking for 3rd Straight Sun Belt Title
Troy enters their 3rd season under the leadership of Coach Uagrad and are looking to win their 3rd straight Sun Belt Conference Title. The Trojans ended last season with an 11-1 record and ranked 17th in the Country. This year the Trojans are looking to continue their winning ways and hopefully crack the Top 10 and make a New Years Day Bowl game.
Offensively this year the Trojans must replace school rushing leader and Heisman Trophy winner Chris Anderson who has moved on to the NFL. To replace Anderson the Trojans will be looking to Jr Nathan Hendrickson to carry the load. Last season Hendrickson rushed for 700 yards as a backup to Anderson. But the strength of this year’s team will be it passing attack as Troy return its top 3 receivers from last year. And getting the ball to them will be 3rd year starter Corey Robinson at quarterback. The Trojans will also be returning a season offensive line leading the coaching staff to believe this could be a very productive season offensively for the Trojans. Defensively the Trojans were very inexperienced last season and was forced to play several first year starters. This season the Trojans will more experience on the defensive side the strength of the team being in the defensive line and secondary.
The upcoming season looks to be challenging as the Trojans appear to be auditioning for a spot in the SEC to go along with the always difficult conference games. After facing the killer non-conference stretch in weeks 2 thru 6 the Trojans gear up for major Conference battles in Week 8, 9, 11 & 12.

Southern Miss starts the season off with arguably their 3 toughest games of the year. If they can ride the roller coaster that is OOC games they should be a tested squad by the time conference play comes around. The Golden Eagles have been one win away the past 2 season of securing a spot in the C-USA title game and in year 3 there should be no excuses for coming up short!
Baylor Bears 2013 Season Preview
2012 Results: 11-2; 2nd in Big XII; Orange Bowl Champions; End of Season Rating: #5Key Losses: The Bears lose Baylor's single-season record holders for Passing, Rushing, and Receiving in QB Nick Florence, HB Jarred Salubi, and WR Josh Gordon. Baylor replaces all but two starters on offense, both of whom are keystones on the offensive line.Key Returners: Left Tackle Troy Baker returns to lead the offensive line, although his role will be of decreased importance with a left handed quarterback. Last year's center Stefan Huber moves to the all-important blind side tackle role, taking over the right edge. Junior HB Jacob Bennett takes over the feature back role after the speedster filled in admirably as a third down back last season.Key Newcomers: Mark "Lefty" Heinz is Baylor's top rated recruit in years. The #6 rated quarterback, Heinz stands tall at 6'5" and has the ability to change the game with both his arm and his legs. Heinz will take the snaps from day one in spring practice and has a chance to do some great things during his time in Waco.Key Games: Week Seven at Oklahoma State, Week Ten vs. Oklahoma, Week Twelve at Texas A&M, Week Fifteen vs. Texas
Welcome to the 2013 Arkansas State Red Wolves Preview
This year Coach Sabo is entering his 3rd season as the head coach. He will look to build off of a 6-7 last season. Although the Red Wolves appeared to have a losing record the AD was happy that the Red Wolves were able to make it to the Holiday Bowl. This year Coach Sabo says the Red Wolves will be bowl bound again.
On the offensive side of the ball the Red Wolves will be replacing starting qb Ryan Aplin with last years back up Phillip Butterfield. Although this is his senior year Butterfield says hes ready to show the Red Wolve faithful that he is a capable leader. He will have his choice of targets down the field with the returning core of wide recievers returning. The Red Wolve nation is most excited though about the return of the HB tandom of Singetory Thornton and Frankie Jackson. The ground game will be a strong point this season with those two returning.
The years past the Red Wolves have struggled on the defensive side of the ball and this year may be no different. However with the hiring of a new DC the defense appears to be responding and may shock a few teams this season. Coach Sabo said that he has the upmost faith in his coaching staff to train the players to play to the best of their potential.

Deadline is tomorrow morning when we hit week 3
Coming off a unbelievable season 0f 11-1 and a BCS berth the Aztecs look to keep things going in the same direction in Y3. However this year it will be a bit more difficult with Heisman candidate Hillman going pro and his backup Meeks graduating. This year on offense we will be airing it out a lot more with pro prospect Bernard leading us at QB. We also lost our MLB Andrews who was our heart and soul on defense to the NFL. This year our Dline will be our strong point on defense so hopefully we can get after the QB and not leave our young corners on islands.
