Buffalo Wins Epic Battle For 7th Straight Win
    [IMG]
Buffalo, NY - The top 2 teams in the MAC and potential preview of the MAC Championship met this week for a titanic matchup that wouldn't disappoint. Early on, Kent State had firm control of the game and stifled the Buffalo offense. The Golden Flash would strike first behind a 74 yard TD run. Trayion Durham would attempt a dive the Bulls stuffed but there was plenty of room outside allowing him to go the distance. Then just before halftime, Kent State would add to their behind a strong TD drive for a 14-0 lead at halftime.
Coach HAL would give a dramatic halftime speech though to really motivate the Bulls. They came out in the 2nd half revitalized. It started with a defensive stop and then QB Ashton Herring would take a speed option 69 yards for a great rushing TD. After that, things were beginning to look more like the 1st half. The Bulls were struggling again and the Golden Flash were controlling the game. Then it got worse for Buffalo with just 3:21 left in the game. Kent State completed another TD drive to make it 21-7 and put the Bulls in a really tough spot.
That's when the real lightning would streak. WR Devon Hughes would break a couple tackles and take the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a TD to make it 21-14. Kent State would get the ball back and, with 3 TOs remaining, the Bulls would make the tactical decision to not use them immediately. This plan paid off as Kent State would get a first down after reaching 3rd down. However, the Bulls would start using their TOs and Kent State would stall this time. Buffalo would get the ball back with about a minute to go. Buffalo would drive down the field and tie the game at 21-21 with just 25 seconds remaining. Kent State would throw an INT with their last ditch effort sending the game into OT.
Kent State would win the toss and elect to go on defense. On the 2nd play of OT, Buffalo QB would take a read option play 23 yards for a TD and for Buffalo's first lead of the game. It would be a little more challenging for Kent State but they would respond and tie the game with a TD pass to TE John Miller. In OT2, Kent State got the running game going and would take a 35-28 lead behind Durham's 3rd TD run of the game. Buffalo would make easy work of the Golden Flash defense again. In just a few plays, Buffalo RB Terrell Webb would take in his first TD of the game behind a wide open run to tie it at 35-35.
In OT3, Buffalo would score a TD behind a play action pass from Herring to Devon Hughes where Herring was under pressure and nearly sacked. Forced to go for a 2 point conversion, Herring would attempt to target his TE, but Kent State would intercept the attempt to keep it at 41-35. Buffalo would return the favor though. Kent State would try to hit what appeared to a wide open WR with man coverage trailing him. However, the Kent QB throw the pass too low and behind his WR allowing Buffalo CB Cortney Lester to catch up and cut off the pass intended for the WR. This sealed the victory for the Bulls.
