This years Clemson and North Carolina battle saw an added twist as Coach uagrad90 and Coach HAL9100 brought their annual slug-fest from the MAC to the ACC. In previous seasons games in which these two coaches meet have been close and gone to the wire, minus a couple blowouts the Coach UA would like to forget about. This game would be no different as the two teams traded scores and battled it out to the end. Through out the game both teams moved the ball but there were 3 key events that led to coach UA securing his first ever win in the series. The first occurred midway thru the 1st Qtr with UNC leading 7-0 but Clemson was driving and had a 3rd and Goal from the Tar Heel 3 yard line. On the play the Tiger offense line decided to not block the UNC left tackle even though Clemson had 2 guys in position to block him which resulted in a sack and Clemson settled for a FG and cut the lead to 7-3. The second big series occurred in the 3rd Qtr with UNC leading 21-10. Clemson had once again driven inside the Carolina 10 yard line but the Tar Heel defense stiffened and forced Clemson to settle for another FG and held onto a 21-13 lead. But the biggest play occurred late in the 3rd Qtr with UNC facing a 3rd and 6 from the Clemson 36 yard line. A timely called QB draw resulted in a 36 yard TD run by Craig Herman and increased the Tar Heel lead to 28-13. In the final Qtr the Tar Heel defense got a couple of drive killing Ints and was able to hold on and defeat Clemson 31-20.
Great Game HAL9100, guess it will be another 20+ games before I get a second win.
