    Alabama Upends the Sooners

Late Push Not Enough for the Sooners

    #1 Alabama 34 @ #4 Oklahoma 28

The Alabama Crimson Tide put enough cushion between themselves and the #4 Oklahoma Sooners so that the late 4th quarter push was not enough for the victory. The first quarter saw no scoring action, both teams had one possession during the quarter but were both unable to move the ball. The second quarter saw Oklahoma put the first points on the board on a short TD run. They would recover a fumble on Alabama's next drive and it looked as if they would score again, but a Crimson Tide interception foiled those plans. Alabama scored and the halftime score was 7-7

The third quarter would be all Alabama. Highlighted by a Crimson Tide fumble return for a TD it looked as if the Sooners would be out of contention. The fourth quarter was exciting and high scoring. It went back and forth between Alabama field goals and Oklahoma touchdowns but the Sooners could not seem to recover any onside kicks. With :35 seconds to go the Sooners scored on a 15 yard TD pass to cut the lead to 6. Their only hope was an onside kick, which failed for the 3rd time in the game. Alabama leaves Norman undefeated on their way to a BCS Championship, while the Sooners hope to still make a major BCS Bowl.
