Cavaliers Ink 3 Recruits Through Week 3 Of The Season

Three Four Star Caliber Recruits Are Headed to Charlottesville

The Virginia Cavaliers are pleased to announce the signings of three recruits. One of these recruits, Jeremy Garner, a defensive tackle out of Durango, Colorado is projected as the #51 overall prospect, and the #5 defensive tackle by ESPN. Garner will have the chance to step in immediately with the graduation of All-American Sam Hunter at the end of the season.

Zac Henderson, a Virginia native out of Dunn Loring, will also have the chance to contribute as a true Freshman. The Cavaliers already have true Freshman Fred Harris starting at OLB and we could see Henderson start opposite of Harris next season. This duo could be a force to be reckoned with in the always strong 3-3-5 Cavalier D.

Finally, the Cavaliers are pleased to announce the signing of the #23 HB in the country from Teaneck, New Jersey, Lamont Simon. Simon will provide depth to the Cavalier backfield as they graduate two halfbacks and both fullbacks on the roster. Simon has the tools to be a solid back, but will likely be redshirted upon arriving in Charlottesville next season.

Keep your eyes peeled for more news regarding the Cavaliers recruiting process.

Injuries Plague Cavaliers Through First Four Games

    Three Starters Out For Virginia

The first three weeks of the season have been rough on the Virginia Cavaliers as far as injuries go. Halfbacks Jonathan Ernst and Eric Sanders are both out for over 5 weeks, and starting linebacker Jarod Williams is also on the shelf. Look for Eddie Hayden to see more time at halfback as only a Sophomore.

Cavaliers Bolster Up Secondary With Recent Signings

Two More ESPNU Top 150 Prospects Headed To Charlottesville

In a week that seemed to be a bit of a letdown for the Cavaliers, as many players have decided to go elsewhere, the Cavaliers added some heavy duty defensive guys. Anthony Roland, the #7 DT in the country out of Tullahoma, Tennessee will join forces with already committed Jeremy Garner, the #5 DT in the country. This duo could be a force to be reckoned with in the future for the Cavaliers. Next, the secondary for Virginia has some recent upgrades. Mike Waller, a Virginia native out of Rose Hill, the #6 SS in the country has signed with the Cavs. To go alongside him, Cedric Gibson out of Mount Olive, North Carolina has also signed. These two will give much needed depth to the Cavalier secondary.

Now we have two guys who have signed that may have been looked over by other teams. First Tony Morgan, the #45 ATH out of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin is a JUCO athlete this season. Morgan boasts great speed and acceleration for an athlete his size and will undoubtedly compete for the fullback spot next season. Finally, another JUCO player has committed to the Cavs in Derek Burks. Burks, a good sized halfback with good speed and strength could make an immediate impact for the Cavaliers next season.

I wanted Roland, but you had me from the get-go on him. Nice work. After my third year at OK State, I want a home-and-home with you...maybe even next year.
