    MSU 35 - Buffalo 21

It was a slow start for the Spartan's as they will have to replace a handful of starters on both sides of the ball this year. MSU dominated the game in all most every aspect except the turnovers. First year starting QB Justin Williams turned the ball over ,an inexcusable, 6 times! Two passes were intercepted and 4 times Williams fumbled the ball. "We're getting the feel for a new offense and we have installed several new option packages. Apparently we need to practice that a bit more." These comments were in context of the 4 fumbles from Williams that all came in the option game (2 int pitches, 1 fumbled pitch, 1 fumble on the keep), but it wasn't all bad for the youngest. Williams also rushed for 3 TDs and over 100 yards while passing for over 100 yards. MSU will need to continue to improve.

    MSU 38 - Arizona 10

The Spartan's rushed a season high 50 times, averaged 6.4 ypc and scored 5 times, as the ground game could not be stopped. The running game, mixed with efficient passing, and and twice as much time of possession (22mins to 11mins). Arizona seem very small and weak as the could never quiet make a play they need to get a roll going.

Player of the game: Offensive Line // The OL paved the way all game with 7 pancakes, 5 of those by (RS) freshman RG Marvin Burton.

Sparty holds in final seconds to steal Megaphone Trophy!

MSU started the game with the ball, but it took the Spartan's one play to give the ball away. Williams dropped back after the play action and force the football into coverage and was easily picked off. MSU would trail the rest of the game except for when it counts, at the end. MSU could not stop the ND passing game in the early goings as ND's true fresh QB was unstoppable. After trailing at half MSU took a step back at their game plan. "At one point my assistant coach tells me were 3-9 for 23yards and 2 ints, that's when the game changed." MSU would run the football the entire second half, literally. A straight forward, pound it down your throat run game, mix with some speed plays to the outside MSU was able to slow put drive after drive together to bring the game close. After hold ND a couple drives and allowing 2 FG MSU was only down 6. MSU was able to drive down the field with a mix of run and pass and a little help from ND on a roughing the passer. MSU scored with :19 left and took a 1 point led. MSU's secondary crumbled in the final minutes as ND drove all the way down the field. With 3 seconds left ND was able to hit a crossing route but MSU's secondary came up HUGE and brought the WR down at the 2, sealing the victory! There's no doubt this was a momentum builder

    Sparty makes mistakes; gets rolled

MSU turned the ball over 7 times all coming from QB Justin Williams (4 fumbles, 3 ints) and would never been in the game after that. On defense MSU had a hard time stopping the passing game and when they did they would just have to throw their helmets back on and go play again as the offense was just giving the ball away. Coach Chaotic said he will have to take a major look at his QB position following this game.

MSU is able to grind it out; pulls away in 4th quarter

For the fans it was as boring as it comes. Both teams never really made any big plays all game long. MSU was able to use their grind it out offense to wear down the small northwestern front seven which eventually led to MSU being able to run the ball at will. MSU still needs a play maker to step up on both sides of the ball as they have lacked big play potential so far this season

    MSU practically gives game away

Its hard to win when your last in the country in turnovers, but somehow MSU continues to do it. Add another 5 turnovers today and that puts MSU at nearly -23 in the turnover category. "We have a blunt disregard for the football and it has to stop if we expect to win big games." If it wasn't for another solid day on the ground MSU would have drop this one to a lousy Indian squad. Next week is the big game as MSU travels to the Horseshoe to take on tOSU.

Football is a game of inches

Ohio State knows this all to well has they were inches away from sending this game into overtime. If it wasnt for a fg that went off the cross bar Ohio State would have been able to tie the game and send it into overtime, however that was the case. MSU played the best game of the season so far holding a potent Ohio State offense to just 14 points. On offense for MSU it was a rather out of character game as they could not run the ball to save their lives. Thankfully for MSU, QB Michael Carter decided today would be the day he step up. Carter went 21-31 for 272 + 2 scores, and made all the big time throws when he needed too. This is a huge win for MSU and Coach Chaotic, and they will need to keep this momentum as they still have to travel to Iowa next week, host Michigan the following, then at Purdue, then finish the season against Penn State.
