    Last Season: (11-2), (2-4) All-Time versus Oklahoma
Offense: In comes a New-Era for the Cowboy Offense....same high-flyin scheme...different players. Former QB Santonio Dunlap surpised the Coaching staff when he announced he would be transfering to the Univ of Texas in the Spring. This put Coach Gundy in a tough situation as Dunlap was the clear favorite to lead the offense. Well Dunlap is gone and in comes true freshmen Joel Newton from Holland, Michigan. Newton has the look and the pedigree of a big time college QB. While he is not the strongest arm at the moment, or the most accurate, Newton can do what most QB's cannot at his age...make multiple reads. Newton will have some good talent to throw the rock to on the outside. Former tailback Jermain Patterson makes the move to Joker and is now the big play threat voided by the "Great" Casey Hill. Also working at WR he will have both Wilson brothers (Tony & Wesley)...both player with excellent speed and quickness. Then working the slot is reliable Kevin Sherman, the best route runner and hands on the team. And do not forget about the athletic Chris Chambers and his 6'7" frame working at Flanker and posting up defensive backs and linebackers.

Defense: Coming back with their 3-4 Base Defense for the 7th straight year the Cowboys. The Nose Guard is anchored by All-American Charles Jones. At end are big and strong with Roger Callahan & Matt Harrison. The Line-backing Corps is a group that has developed into a very good group led by MLB Josh Carter who really came on as the leader of the 4-man LB crew. ROLB Ty Smith had an excellent Freshmen year and is looking to build upon that. Marcus Stanley at LOLB suprised the Big 12 being in the top 5 in sacks. In the secondary Matt Lucus will man the RCB spot along with long-time secondary utility man Terence Brown finally getting the starting nod at the other corner spot. Senior Strong Safety Jason Williams returns and will be the "QB" once again for the secondary.

Special Teams: Groza Award Winner Todd Thomas returns for his SR Year. Punter Jared Magum is a young soph punter.
